So I got the last bunch of radios yesterday. I also got my package from amazon which had the battery eliminators as well as a battery pack that used AAA batteries. I don't recommend either. Two of the battery eliminators were bad. One broken in pieces and not working when put together and the other not working at all. The one that holds the aaa batteries was pretty cheaply built and when I took it apart to try it there was a metal piece floating around which I don't know where it came from.

These radio have really worked out great this season for me. They are also great for dirt biking, quading and boating. Don't leave home without one!

Got one of your radios and it works alright . Sometimes it is not clear enough , with out stoping , but still very handy .
One of them in our group was quite squelchy ... he had it close to his cell phone ... would that cause this ? It was just one radio ..
Rest were great .
Also used Velcro on the mike & and it worked great to hold it on the centre console , with in easy reach .
Very handy & happy

Mine had static and bursts of noise.

Even with cell phone moved it was still doing it but not as much.

Also Crackled while listening.

We matched Keith's setting to mine to make sure that was ok.

They had 8 km range no problem

You can pick up static from several sources

1. you have accidentally turned the FM radio feature on (side key 1), solution turn off by press side key 1 again

2. you are picking up a week radio signal you do not want to hear. solution change channels , you will get the least static on VHF 1 -26 which are program into Ch 69-94 as they will not be used nearly as much as one of the FSR channels. You can also turn up the squelch but then you will also not be able to hear a buddy on the fringe range.

You can try a PL Tone.
Squelch won't open unless someone keys up with the same PL Tone.

I increased squelch to 5 on his radio and still had the issue. All other radios in the area(within 50 feet or less) never had it happen.

Yeah I have bought and programmed about 100 of these radios now, some of them do that for whatever reason.

But the PL Tone seems to minimize the interference, but adds complexity to programing radios.

Hey RGM, Since you have been selling 100s of these have you thought about designating a frequency that we all could reserve for emergencies like if someone gets stranded and needs help? I have heard of people reserving the FRS channel 9 - sub 11. This frequency is also programmed into the BC Link radios on E channel. What do you think?
