I got a couple spots for the 12th, looking for one or possibly two more if anyone wants to give it up.

You might have problem camping in the parking lot. Last year campers took up a lot of the spots, and we had to double park a lot of trucks.

Also some slob left their garbage and a pile of beer cans there last year too. I know Chatter is aware of it and they told one guy in our group that they will be watching closely.

The guys camping up there, are they riding the same area that the guys who paid to stay at chatter are riding?

Yes. It's about a 20k+ ride in to the lodge.. Some areas are still a ways from there.
Chatter has no issue with people sledding there, even in peak season, its haul....

Respect and they will treat you like gold. Come on in for a beer, I think you are limited to 1 drink if you are riding straight to the truck\. ZERO tolerance if they serve you booze and you ride after.

It's a loooong drive with the bumpy road... can be 2.5 hours from the highway. not a day drive.. I did it trust me....

Ya, we know the drill about the parking lot and rubbish... too much respect for our areas and we understand about the crap some people leave behind :)
As far as parking lot and taking up too much room, we also respect others that go in ahead of us and the ones coming in behind... I know the lodge had a NO CAMPING rule a few years ago, but I think they still only had the lower parking lot at that time. There's room at the bottom and even along the side of the road in places at corners, for a trailer and a couple pick-ups :)
Ive never actually camped while the lodge was still open, so that will be sorted out when and if the time comes
Maybe see you guys in there.

Theirs quite a few areas to pull off of the FSR road. Some camp at hope creek staging area. Last year bunch of Japanese boarders had a full on camp set up at one of the turn outs. Pretty bummed ain't riding opening weekend this year, sold my spot. May ride one day next weekend just to get my fill of chatter for the year. Always wondered as I didn't have a gps with me in the last 5 years going in if you could hook up from hope creek?

Is it frowned apoun to camp before April in the chatter staging area?
Personally can't see the problem, as long as you clean up after yourself. I mean most skiers are flown in, rarely do the snowcats come down unless need for supplies. But this is only my opinion. I will say it's a drive for a day trip, 2hrs in 2 hrs out.
