Just wanting to see what peoples first hand experience with HL delete kits. I would imagine the venting would be much better as heat rises, inturn having slightly better performance maybe.

My real concern is how big of a saftey hazard is it? I do ride a bit at home when we have snow, but mostly in the mountains. We are always on and off the hill before its real dark.

i deleted my xm using the skinz part for the extra storage. i like it. i can put my gps, inreach, radio, camera and a spare pair of gloves easily in there, plus it keeps stuff warm but it wont actually dry stuff. i use a frakensled helmet mount light if i need to, but like you i rarely ride at home, and in the hills i am one of those guys that unloads at first light so i can get a good day in and still get back in the light

I deleted with supliment light installed on sled. I personally would never handlebar mount as my ski's aren't always pointing where I am heading... But the helmet mounts are also a great idea. If you are looking for your pro, look at skinz and get the led bar for a side mount on the hood. Weight loss + better light. If you need more add a frankensled/lead dog or similar. Just my opinion. No matter what I know you will be happy headlight less lol

Why would a guy do a headlite delete, now adays? Some of the older sleds eg: '96-'98 summits gave more power for stronger spark, if headlites were deleted... But not so much anymore with the better electronics on todays sleds..

I did mine to incease the easy access to more storage, i dont have to get off my sled and open the tunnel bag to quickly grab my gps to mark something, or grab the camera for a couple quick picks. I just hate having to stop and hop off the sled to get in the tunnel bag multiple times a day, or worse yet take my back pack off to grab some small item

so mainly for storage? Don't have a handle bar bag? Can get them heated too, and they hold cameras and gps... Work good....

I tried the doo one, front and back compartments, it did have nice storage but i found my tether getting hooked up on it sometimes, it also is a little too tall imo and gets pushed upwards by the console. I never did try any other ones,

Thats what i had on my t3... Worked awesome, and holds quite a bit. Also the extra high storage cover for the headlite compartment made a big difference too...

then your in the wrong sport or your a real good trail rider cause I'm off on on the sled all day long. I keep my gps, camera and cell phone with a thin pair of gloves all in a tuuk in my glove box above gauges on xm. Couldn't imagine trying to navigate out of the backcountry without headlights. Just my opinion

I like having headlights for those occasions that you're coming out later than expected. The stock glovebox has no problem holding my GoPro, cell phone, VHF radio, neck warmer, and a toque.

I have a 3000 lumin headlight for fatbiking which is mainly at night. Mounting it on my helmet is amazing. Everywhere you look is covered in light not where your machine is pointed. Its over kill for biking but was thinking this would be great in the back country if run into issues and have to ride out in the dark.

so with the new sleds, charging you headlights doesn't cost power... I don't know what your smoking but it is a parasitic loss on the engine. Will you make more power deleting the power, yes. will it be noticeable, probably not. You can usually gain 1 to 1/2 a clicker in rpm when deleting it.

Same here. Had a sled once with an aftermarket hood without headlights and had a bit of a situation where we didn't get out until after dark and it's a chitty trail ride trying to follow a tail light. I get the storage concerns, but I've decided to make my storage work elsewhere (handlebar bag, another underseat and one under hood). Unless you're racing, there isn't enough to be gained.

Yup just doesn't add up to me. Spend $100 to lose 2lbs then spend another $150 for a flashlight that weighs 1lb and takes up the extra storage space you created. In the end you spend $250 to save 1lb.
