yamaha 340 engine issues

having issues with the 340 idles fine but as soon as you give it throttle it sputters cleaned carb starts way better (1/2 pull on the cord) but same issue with a little playing with the throttle it kinda revs up enough to go but contantly stutters. Any ideas?

Did you check the choke (engine enrichment plunger) the seal on the bottom usually dries out and won't seat.

What he said^^^^. Also does it only do it under load? Try it with belt off?

My old 340 enticer had that issue, turned out to be the lighting coil,if I recall I just ended up unplugging the lights,

throttle safety switch
plug the wires together
the 2 wires that are going to the carb just connect them to each other
and see what happens
