Is there supposed to be any free play (front to back) in these things?I'm changing my clutch weights and decided to change the fluid in the drives and was wondering about free play.I have a 09 m6 and m1000.Should I open them right up and have a look or are they pretty bullet proof? Both are at about 1800 miles and seem to have about the same movement. Are they adjustable like a chain in a chaincase? Not familiar with this system was riding Polaris till they pissed me off and switched to cat a year or two ago.

I open mine start of the season and do the lazy man oil change every couple of rides by tipping it on its side and replacing the oil, seems like they are hit and miss for longevity, I have a friend who made it 600km and another with 5000+ on their DD's, if you are going to open it up you may as well change the bearing IMO, next time I will be going to the bdx wide kit, $50 is a small price to pay to ensure you hold together

All you need is the double wide bearing from cat. Very simple to put in. It is normal to have some play in your DD.

Cat uses Bdx as the DD supplier and Bdx uses Peer bearings, China....! Go to your local automotive supply parts place and get a better double row replacement! There are a few threads on here about this issue just search them. NSK, FAG, NTN are all better choices.

Half the price & better bearing from Kaman. Hmmmmm....do you have Kaman in the prairies? 5203 or 3203 double row bearing.
