Getting ready for the upcoming season

Lots of talk about sleds and upgrades being done to them. What are the groomer guys doing to their rigs to prepare them for the season?


Fort Saskatchewan Club is buying a used trailer to haul our groomer around between our trail systems. We are also getting a plastic culvert from Roadtech to help set our trails at the start of the season.
Will post some pics of our progress as it goes on

Pretty much ready to go here. Been doing some trail improvements over the summer. Still a few projects left to do.

Hi Folks
Will start with the tracks on the Rhino next weekend, it's a two man job and I've got the neighbour coming over next weekend to help,
will drag the packer and groomer out of the back yard tomorrow and look over the equipment, shouldn't need too much repair.
Was thinking of installing a side brush cutter this year to do a little trimming of the new willows.

Ok here is our compacter snow drag that our Trail Director built this weekend. Thanks for your hard work Don and thanks to your son in law for doing the welding. This is 4 1/2 feet wide and is pulled by the club trail sled. When filled with snow or logs or cement blocks it will knock the air out of the snow and compress it just enough to set it up for a smoother trail from the ground up.

For any club out there looking to build one its easy. Don't build it to heavy because you add weight as you need it and keep it light duty and simple. Easy pull with any sled

Good Job Don, I hope you folks will get the benefit of your hard work in the building of a well packed ground up trail.
I was out on the lake today doing ice testing, didn't go too far off the shore but the ice is enough to hold me and the tracked rhino, that's about 1700 lbs
The ice is averaging 4 inches from the beach out 50 feet. I hope we get a week of -10 and no snow that will make the ice safe enough for a good test.
