I recently purchased Yamaha 450 with LT timbersled 137 I am looking it over and pulled the chain cover off and the chain seems to have 1 inch of slack but what I find more disturbing is the bolt on the top is completely lose, I really doubt that’s right but thought I would ask. I tried uploading pictures but it didn’t work

Looks like the nut and retainer are in place correctly so if you have that much slack in the chain and movement in the top shaft you likely have a shot bearing. Check them all, they are a maintenance item and do wear out. What year is your kit? If its 2014 or older they are single row greaseable bearings. you can upgrade to double bearing housings which will stand up better/last longer. No critical tho, just replace the single row bearings and keep them greased properly and you should be fine.
