Just got a 2003 summit highmark x. After hopping on my dads 09 m1000 i noticed A LOT of differences but one of the biggest was how light the throttle pulled. my zx puts a lot of stress on the thumb and hand because of hard the throttle puls. Is there any fix to this or is it just the nature of the best?

When you look at the carbs and see how much weight and resistance ( return springs and cables ) that you have to pull up and hold then look at the efi system where all you are moving is a cable and one spring you can tell what I mean.

Your hand will get used too it, No more teasing your thumb with the efi throttles! Theres sadly nothing you can do about it.

Find an old 670 Summit with VM40 roundslide Mikuni carbs on it and you will learn what throttle pull is all about! LOL! The flatslides on your sled are way better than the good old days, and shouldn't pose a problem for your thumb after a good couple days riding.

it really doesnt bother me enough that i want to go hacking away at my carb springs. I do remember an old 583 that of my dads i used to ride had a 2 stage throttle. any aftermarketers make something similar? would it help?

you can cut 2 coils off the slide springs no problem, makes it easier.

do that all the time for cat riders,(always complain about throttle pull) why you think we call em pussies, just can't pull the throttle for long.

It's not that we can't pull it for long, it's just that we keep having to stop and pull the doos out again.lol

My wife's ZX pulls a lot easier than my 670X. The previous owner of the ZX installed a newer ZX throtle assembly to make it a bit easier.
