Put a brand new Boss seat on my 2002 zx 700 about 3 weeks ago and its amazing. Before I mounted it I had my old seat off with the light still on it and laid it on my scale and it came in at a whopping 20lbs (I have heard that they can hold water as well, adding even more weight). Took my boss seat, still in the cardboard box with all the wrapping and paper work it comes with and it came in at 10.5-11lbs!!! About a 9-10lb weight saving if not better which was a lot better than what I was expecting!! My sled is pretty much stock but this seat compliments my 8" rise perfect.

Just a little info, now get out and ride:headbanger:

Thats awesome. I plan on doing the boss seat upgrade in the future but untill then i was thinking of either a rev seat set-up, or adding some foam to the stock seat. Im aware that adding foam wont really help shed weight, but does anyone know if the foam really makes enough of a difference in riding that its worth it?

I like the rev seats on the zx. I went with boss because my stock seat was near mint and I ended up selling it for $180 (it made the $$$ of the boss seat a little more palatable) also install on the boss seat was <30min and I didn't want to spend time moding a seat when I could be out riding.

If i had gott on moding my seat earlier I would've got a rev seat first (seen them for around $100-$150) and depending on how that went either keep it or upgrade later. I am happy with the upgrade but I'm realizing how little my butt is in the seat.

It definitely brings you up off the tunnel, and you sink very little when on the seat. Stance is going to be a little different for everyone, you could probably find something to place on the seat to give you a similar rise and try it out. I'm 6'-4 and love it and my buddy at 6' sat on it (also has a zx) and his exact words after a short ride were, "this is how the sled should've been made." I haven't been out a whole lot on it as of late but the transition from sitting to standing has been made so mush easier and made me have more energy throughout the day. I also have a 8" rise on it with 2012 summit handlebars, make sure you do that first (or something similar). Then if your budget allows it go for the boss or if not there are a lot of seat mod options.
