Was out this weekend with a friend and his 800 started to bog bad then just wouldn't pull rpm in the top end. He went to the trailer, changed plugs and wires, checked rave valves for operation, inspected for anything out of the ordinary. It starts an idles fine but still wouldn't pull over 7000 rpm after re-assembly. Now we are thinking reeds? maybe a coil? It recently had a new stator and flywheel installed but ran good after... also when he put the new plugs in, one was easy to index but the other would either bee too tight or loose. Are there plug shims that need to be used? I've used them before in V8's but haven't had to change etec plugs ever... Thanks

Both of the valves react when the cover is off. the bellow is the rounded cup on top?

All jokes aside lol, they didn't put any foam in the air box for dampening or anything? it looks like panel foam with glue on one side. cant believe there was a second fn piece!

Was anything done to the sled recently before this started happening? Are you serious about that piece of foam in the throttle body??? Wouldn’t be the reeds. He would be experiencing the opposite....hard starting and poor idle and then smartening up up top. Like others have said, raves or clutching. If you’re serious about that foam then maybe a piece is somewhere inside it shouldnt be? Only other thing I can think of is fuel. Fuel pump or filter?

Also like you have some pecker head friends ?? Lol
Putting foam in air box ?

One thing that a lot don’t do is change the fuel filter yearly.
