    2012 e-tec bog???

So I rode Valemount last week end and my 2012 Freeride 800 e-tec acted up a little. Sometimes when I would open er out for a climb, she would miss/bog for a second. It seemed to be around low 7000rpm range. It wouldnt happen all the time, but was a pain in the..... when it would. It was pretty intermittent. Also it appears she is burning a little more oil than before, leaving discolored snow from the exhaust. Burnt almost half a tank of oil to a tank of fuel. Ayone have info that might help me out here??? Thanks!

Pretty common issue, especially with the Freeride and X's. Chances are it is the Hi/Low beam switched. The injectors demands on the stator are very high and when you open of the throttle quicker it requires a lot of power to open the voice coils. Sometimes people bump the hi/low beam switch and it can actually stay in the middle engaging both the hi and low beam which puts a lot of deman on the stator.

It can also be an over rev issue. Sometimes when running in too high a clicker, (the higher the clicker, the quicker the rpm'd build and respond to the throttle) it can over rev and the sled will pull back the timing. This happens very quick. It is not hitting a rev limiter, just exceeding the operating limit.

Mine did the same thing. And everytime it did my dimmer switch was in the middle position. Moved dimmer onto the front side of the riser. No more issue.

I have heard a lot about this dimmer switch. I moved mine from new. No issues yet. Knock on wood.

I'm currently running clicker 4, to make an RPM of around 7900 in the mountains and clicker 1 around fort mac to get the same RPM. I watched the RPM's closely to see if it was over reving at all, but it never went above 8000. unless it's happening to fast for the gauge to represent it.

Ive herd something about that high/low switch before. So I should be able to just unplug the switch or the headlight and see if she still does it, right???

Yes, just pop the gauges out and it should be a grayish triangular 3 wire plug.

I ran without it unplugged most of last winter. Now I use a handwarmer switch for the headlights and I can simply switch them off.

Cool, thanks. When I get on days off here comin up, I'll unplug it and take her for a run. If that turns out to be the issue, I'll prob copy your idea and install a simple on/off switch. Fingers crossed. I'll post what I find.
