Hi been awhile since I rode a doo. How many km is to much on a etec engine. The one I'm going to look at has 2900 km on it. Last doo I owned was a 2003 800 Zx

Check the compression - probably still good to 10,000kms - my brother's 2015 xm 163 has 5000kms and 140psi mag side and 135 psi PTO side - good to go - and we call it the SP Rental - because he drives the F*k outta that thing - with no maintenance - except new plugs every 1000kms lol - I just put a new s-module in it - A Pillar - steering post - and brake assembly - he loves to be a lumberjack - look at them plugs - I put new ones in -but sh*t coulda ran these another couple thou I bet

That's nothing on a Etec as long as it was looked after like anything else. Out east, lots of them are running with 8000 plus kms on them.

Had a 15 x crank went 1500km . 16 has 7500km still running. Seen lots over 7000 km. They seem like good motor

The Etec 800’s can go for a long time. Just run good quality fuel and change plugs regularly.

iirc he rebuilt the top end at ~15k km and then the crank went right near 20k km.

Just wondering how many KM guys are getting out of the newer 850 Etecs ? Are they as reliable as the old 800s ?
