I thought the other day on the hill you two hutterites were talking about how the silber had the one up one you guys on both ur centermount and bd kits due the fact there was no lag on his and you guys have a burble? the silber kit is capabable of high boost as well and looks like they also now have an intercooler options for dudes like yourself? I mean the turbo is still a KPA but redlines rpm turbos are Chinese as far as i know, same same only different? I think silber has everyone beat on the fueling department with the factory ecm tuning. JMO
If I turned down my boost to 5lbs I would probably have no lag - when you seen me last I still never had my clutching dialed in - was still on clicker 4 - not sure why the bd kit has lag - with no gauges there is no telling what it is - I'm still getting the last remaining bugs out - like y pipe bolts falling out and springs blowing off the Y pipe and melting issues and a few more grams outta primary - maybe next year we can hook up at Renshaw and you can try the triple T custom setup and see for yourself

BD kit with lag? Does the engine have a head cut by chance?
All stock on 850 doo - zero to full bar and she barbles a bit - I did it on first day - my buddys rig - might be better now I dunno

It seems like i have seen a few like this. If you watch all the instagram vids of the BBA boys riding they have alot of weird burble conditions. same with turcotte. Theres somthing up there.
Also while we are on the topic on the head being cut, that would help with a low end burble.... so im not sure where your going with that? is there somthing we dont know?

Dunno about other sled brands, but the BD sidekick 850 doo I’ve been messing with acted like a stocker with alot more HP, and ran very clean, but we went above and beyond BD’s setup.
The owner wanted to try a head cut to get it off race fuel but it made the bottom end go soft.

The owner wanted to try a head cut to get it off race fuel but it made the bottom end go soft.

What did he run for race fuel before the head cut? Can a guy run pump premium and get away with the low boost?

I think it was just over a gallon before the head cut.
On a BD kit stock head, just to be safe, I wouldn’t recommend it. BD is a self adjusting boost kit that can boost from 4-8lbs, dont hold me to those numbers.

Sorry, I meant what kind of race fuel, C14? I like the looks of sidekick with switch for the low/high boost. I thought you remove a fuse and it goes to low, insert for high. Thanks!

verry interesting.. for me the results where the exact opposite. with the stock head it seemed to have a stumble. and when the head was cut by linderman the stumble was gone and can run pump fuel up to 10 lbs safe.

No you cannot, all these turbo kit builders say you can.. redline is bad for this, but you cannot. Theoretically speaking you will be safe once in the alpine about 6-7000 feet.. the problem is getting there without making any boost. You want to avoid detonation at all costs, once it happens it doesn't take long before you have catastrophic failure. For piece of mind with a stock head id run now lower then 30% C-12 or higher.

Powderfreaks head Pullin 5lbs boost at 4000 ft on the trail - negative 10 on the issues on Shelbourne and just zinging and Burnin the sausage in the muffpot smiles per gallon

When you did the head cut you noticed no difference in performance or throttle response??? The owner of the sled said he could not, but I picked up on it the moment I got on it, it was not as crisp and had a elastic band feeling to the throttle.

This applies to a boost it kit, a silber kit, and an MPI kit on 800r's and 850's. I have had exclusive time with all of these kits and every kit has benefited big time from a head cut.

When the low compression head goes on you notice immediate more response, performance is hard to measure without a dyno. you will notice the turbo makes boost almost instantly due to the fact it doesn't have to overcome the cylinder pressure in order to make positive pressure, and the 91 pump fuel burns way faster.

sorry i worded that poorly, the turbo does not have to overcome such high cylinder pressure in order to make positive pressure.

The low compression powderfreaks head was an absolute game changer for me - I wish I would have known that was one of the major problems with my sled from the first boosted km - woulda saved me a **** tonne of money - people I talked to (credited turbo kit builders) told me to NOT put a low compression head on - sometimes a guy just has to try everything no matter what other people say

Humm reworking the dome to prevent det, does not mean its a low compression head, yes turbo builders are correct in saying do not put a low compression head on a turbo.

Ok that makes sense - I was questioning the low compression head also - because I checked compression and I have 132-135 psi per hole - so I was scratching my head - now that you say that- it all makes sense now - it's not a low compression head it's just turbo domes or just re-worked domes with the lines that lead to the center to center the burn more or whatever
