Got a buddy that has a 2015 800 etec . It's back firing like crazy won't rev over 6000 rpm and won't stay running at a idle. Anyone have any ideas.

I’d be looking at the reeds as one of the things that can be checked for free. A broken petal can cause the issues you’re describing.
So can a plugged fuel filter, or a bad pump but need a gauge to check that.
