Have a flat spot in my starter, 2014 XM 3600KM just wondering if anyone else had or has this problem, and how big of job is it to replace? should i get a used one or go new? i heard they are like 1000 bucks to do at the dealer.

the entire starter kit with battery is like 500$. the motor itself is almost the same price so we always just buy the entire kit then end up with a new battery and have a spare etc. we then take the old starter for a rebuild so we have a spare. its easy to change

Is it just a worn bendix? Max, where do you get your starters rebuilt around Edmonton?

Bottom mount starters in jet boats are always a pain too... disassemble and emery the parts, usually works for a season
