Been chasing this problem since Christmas. I have an XM that I put a Redline Kit on this season. ( I don't think it is turbo related) Sled is pretty friggin fun, but the last 5 or 6 rides it dies like the kill switch has been hit. Fires up first pull every single time after the shut down. Had a voltage capacitor get extremely hot, melted the wire and threw a code. Dealer said it was the first time he had seen it, first time he has ever replaced a capacitor. Take it out after the capacitor was replaced and still have the same problem. Dies intermittingly, mostly it seems between 5500-6500 RPM, then fires right back up( happens 5-7 times a day). Soooo, gone through the kill switch, all handle bar connections, the dess connections, tired a different key, all computer connections and all continuity tested, checked the stator, checked the coils, changed out the plugs, everything seems to be good. Gone through the turbo install, and will go through it again tonight and take everything apart just to be sure. Just an oil pump, and the Redline Box drawing power. Oh, I did throw an led idiot light on it for the oil pump to make sure I have power to the pump. (Total draw maybe 3 amps.) Throws no code or if it does, it clears it every time I fires up. Did a compression test an both holes are sitting at 150psi....pretty impressive actually for a sled with 5000k on er. Sled did have an issue 2 years ago with the kill switch, cleaned it up ad was good for 2 seasons. First place I looked when this problem started. Was out on the weekend and the sled died 6 times on Saturday(all on trail and not on boost) over the course of the day, was out yesterday and never died once, first full day ride that it hasn't happened since the problem started. Did nothing different. Super weird. Fawking hate electrical shiet. I am sure I have done more that I am forgetting. Who's got an idea that I haven't tried???

Maybe have a look at your fuel pressure if it’s not holding at 40+ psi you may have a weak fuel pump giving you grief.

This ^^^^ never really thought about it. Would explain the crappy idle that is developing randomly.

Got the parts if you need them to plumb in a fuel pressure gauge.

Funny you mention this, it sounds like my last ridea at the end of the day with my aero charger and redline box.. Running well all day and then just dies out at the lower rpm for no reason, just pull and it starts back up.. I called Dave on it and he gave me the line of checking all connections for pins possibility of being loose.. No luck yet, I would swear I hit the kill switch just slowly dies out

might have to check his wiring or his ground he is using.. Sounds a little fishy there is two of us.. When it's working, sled runs like a champ, just makes one paranoid, last trip out I left it for the night, next day drove it all day no problems

The old boy mentioned this when he was over trying to diagnose the issue. We should have a look at that if you are around on the weekend.

Fred was there any checking of the redline box wires for resistance or ohms to see if there getting proper signals. Wonder if it could be a box malfunction we’re it is backfeeding a signal.

Bingo Chris. Lots of issues in 2015-16 with 800 etecs with poor fuel pumps and regulators. Don't rule out the in tank fuel filter as well. Saw a turboed 2015 XM with a plugged fuel filter that we chased a bit at the store. Customer was using an old slip tank for his premium fuel and rust was sucking up into the filter and blocking it off.

Will check the fuel pump, but replaced both filters in November when the turbo was first installed. That being said, doesn't mean they couldn't be plugged now.

Their was another guy that had the same issues with a Tss kit with a redline box shutting off. Check your 60V circuit need to get it on buds. Another thing check the wires from the stator I’ve seen them melted on a xm with redline kit

Had it at the dealer, nothing came up on Buds. Everything was normal according to the tech. Checked the stator wires, all look good, no signs of heat.

i`m suffering with almost the same issue (been happening since the end of last season). 2015 summit 174 impulse turbo kit 7psi kit rips until it stalls (just like some one hit the kills switch). i`ve found if i ride up to half throttle or less it never happens ride it hard and it will stall randomly. when it stalls i can watch the wide band go full rich it. it will blow black smoke (rich) if i try to feather the throttle to try and keep it running it always dies though. pull the tether hold it wide open pull pull pull to clear flood put the tether back on pull the cord and i`m off and running for a bit. i find its worse when it heat soaks sitting taking a break so if i open my panels and let it cool it doesn't happen (sled is not over heating always runs at normal temp). never sets a code i have candoo pro. against my better judgement i have started throwing parts at the problem cause i got tired of everything always testing good. sled has a new stator, new fuel pump, new ignition coils, new wires, new plugs, new tps, new rave sensor (shares 5 volt reference with tps so if this were to ground out it would mess with the tps signal) basically every sensor beside the pipe temp sensor, on the turbo kit side i`ve pined out all the wiring checks good no shorts to ground / power or to any other wires. new baro sensor, new boost pressure sensor, checked air temp sensor checks good. everything else piggy backs off the stock sh*t, replaced my injectors cause i`ve heard of them causing stalling for some people no difference. im basically down to ECM at this point. my friend has a 2016 summit 174 that is stock and runs fine so this week i`m borrowing his injectors, ECM and gauge cluster so nothing has to be reprogrammed and hes taking my injectors, ECM and gauge cluster and we are gonna go out and see if his sled stalls and mine doesn`t then i will know for sure its the ECM before i blow anymore $$$$. sled has just over 4000kms on it

Good lord I feel for you, you been working on this for a while it seams.. Your flooding sounds exactly like mine does, had my aero out two days ago and ran perfect all day, then on the way home a mile from the truck I'm racing another Buddy and I hit the ditch, leaned the sled up on its side, had a beer and go to start it and get out of the ditch..just like that I hear it's gargling and I know this is the start of the problem, it's runs rich for about a minute but still drivable and then just dies.. Just like yours it's needs ten hard pulls and it starts up, but only on one lung, then stumbles and dies, flooding one cylinder out.. Almost raw fuel comming out of the pipe..

Was getting dark so I pulled back and put in shop for night, today I tried to start again and it was still flooding on one cylinder.. Hooked candoo to it and no codes, but when I cykled the stock injectors and then started sled it ran fine, like nothing wrong..

starting to to feel it was a stuck injector on pto side.. Called around to dealers and they don't have many if any problems with stock injectors.. Doing a little more thinking I thought it could be a secondary injector stuck open as well, call redline and told him my findings.. This is now the second time this has happened and both times real late in the end of the day, with same symptoms and flooding.. And sled running perfect for previous 8 hrs..

we decided to remove his box and I reinstalled the aero dobeck fuel controller, to see if it could possibly be something there.. Maybe causing a voltage spike.. Sticking a injector open

one idea if it happens again is to instantly disconnect the secondary injectors wiring.. This will trouble shoot if it's the fuel control from stock ecm or turbo kits..

as as for my impulse kit on my 15-t3 174 it's run very well, never had this problem like I have on the aero.. Your running the impulse fueling correct? With his ecm? By any chance do you have a aftermarket headline or headlight delete kit.. I have that on my aero

need to keep us informed on your findings.. I have been also throwing the idea around about swapping stock injectors around to rouble shoot this bitch..

Hopefully between the 3 of us we can get this sourced. Sled runs like a raped ape when it I on, but hate not having confidence in the sled. But, unlike the other two, my sled firs up first pull every time. Have a fuel pressure gauge that I am gonna throw on for this weekend's ride and see where that sits at.

yes i`m running impulse fueling and i highly doubt its your injectors cause i have replaced mine and it had do difference but anything is possible (other than my idle is smoother now then before). its to the point that i`ve almost learned to ride around the problem but i hate not being able to trust my sled like i normally can and like bayman my sled doesn`t miss a beat it ripps so good until it decides to check out and stall. that is also one of the things i have thought about doing to rule out the impulse system is pull the fuse to the system when its happening but its hard to even keep the thing coughing along and running when it happens and get a door panel open to pull the fuse out (plus running it this way with out oil supply to the turbo wouldn`t be able to happen for very long with out possible damage to the turbo). i am running led h4 head light bulbs and the ski doo led aux light but i had regular h4s installed when this problem started happening and there has been no change with the h4 leds same problem. the only reason i started running h4 leds is cause at idle on high beam with my aux light on it used to flicker. bring up the rpm and it didn`t and this tells me there was too little voltage available on the lighting circuit from all the demand of the lights so i went to led h4 to reduce demand on the circuit and no more flickering at idle if i have them on high beam with my aux light on. i`ve never been able to get my sled to mess up at home i always have to get out and ride it for a couple hours hard before it starts to act up. i will say though bayman when i put a new fuel pump in this year i did a flow test of the old pump and the new pump the old pump flowed more in a timed actuation of the pump then the new pump did i have heard of this happening to fuel pumps before and seen it at work either way with the new fuel pump it cleaned up a slight stumble i had on initial stab of the throttle (obviously the pump couldn`t keep up with the quick shot of fuel it was needing on a quick stab because if your rolled into it it wouldn`t happen) and i also picked up 400rpm on the top end i had to stuff a bunch more pin weight into my clutch

Did some ditch banging today with aero dobeck fuel system, elevation 2300'.. Spent two hrs screwing around and no side effects, but really miss the redline box.. Sled runs so much better with it..

played with the dobeck fueling for hrs and just can not get it clean on both ends, always seams to have a miss up top or bad stumble.. Redline was very clean all over.. Sled pulls stronger hands down with redline..

time for the mountains, and hopefully make it back on its on a convergence

If you pull the wires off the secondary injectors right after it starts to happen, then your oil pump on the impulse will run fine.. Just prevent overfuel from the injectors if it's happening!!

i also read a few quick checks we can do to stator to make sure our power supply is not fluctuating and we are getting proper performance from it..plan to check mine today

Well I did the stator checks and all three read about .68ohms.. Volts show 57 on candoo

had it ditch banging again and no problems, see what happens in the mountains

Well I dunno how every ones sleds ran this weekend i was supposed to have a new ECM for this last weekend but my parts guy couldn`t get me one in time even tho it was ordered way in advance. Long story short i have a new ECM in my hands now I will be installing it today and it will be programed tomorrow. Will be going out on Sunday to see if the stalling has finally been fixed!
