I've got a 2016 XM and the inner chain case is cracked all around the lower gear.
Im looking at replacing the inner case however the rivets holding the case to the tunnel looks like a different style of rivet.
has anyone had to replace the inner cover and these rivets? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated

done a couple of them, cold chisel off the rivets or grind the heads off inside the tunnel. replace with grade 8 bolts and stover lock nuts.

Just thinking of an option, what about putting a TKI belt drive on it? Then you can leave the cracked case on there and simply due away with the front cover.

I rode a 15 XM with a TKI on itn noticeable difference. Great suggestion Danny, I was going to say the same thing.

Yes it does.
i have the c3 drive on it now, and the case flexs so bad the lower gear rubs on the belt drive.
The noise and vibration is how I discovered it was cracked

It's not the cover that cracked. It's the inner case that cracked all around the lower gear. This cracked case housing allows that lower gear to move in and out so bad that the gear hits and rubs on the cover.
i need an after market chain case housing.

Set yourself up for paying $900+ for a after market case and the all are designed for a 3" track. There is nothing wrong with the doo case. I got easy 25,000kms plus on my belt drive with a stock back half of a case that I put on the same time. Blew up the original chain and case. I'd be checking your drive axle too and make sure it's not bent.

Yes it does. That's the problem. The housing that is riveted to the tunnel is cracked so bad the lower gear moves and hits the cover. I all ready have a belt drive on it.
I was hoping that someone knew of a aftermarket chain case housing that was stronger than stock

For after market cases there is Avid and Powder Freaks use to make one not sure if he still does. IMO I'd just get another stock case for the price.

They're a huck rivet. once you get the new case, swing by any body fab shop for trucks, or a Big rig collision place and they'll have the huck rivets and the gun. Aviation uses something similar (areo Bolt I think) but probably more pricey.

Just use good grade 8 bolts or better for the case, you be totally fine with them. Plus it makes it way easier if you need too do it again.

Skidoo makes a plate with studs that you put on the inside of the tunnel, with lock nuts to hold the inner chaincase. I have it on my 2008.
