I here you but you always have a risk of that happening anytime your out there. But I guess it's nice and a good idea to minimize that.

May be yes lol

I took it in and got pistons done, got dealer to check before it came apart

Had pistons done on mine at about 10,000km and told the dealer runout was .010 at about 14,000KM and said I wanted a new motor. While he was trying to get one from BRP it blew at 15,000Km. I was waaaay back but managed to limp out on one cylinder.

Ya, it's still the same so far so I'm going to keep rolling as long as the snow keeps coming

Going bring this one back up.... just checked my 14 xmx 800 etec and this was the reading I got, which would be .002 and change if I understand the gauge correctly.

.0024 is what my shop manual says from the 2014 edition.

Sled has 3100 miles has seen nothing but shell premium in sask, with some marked premium in BC and Amsoil interceptor.

pull that bearing cap and replace the isoflex and let er buck
That's exactly what I just did, however... I was less than enthused at what I found.... is that all rust ?

Sled hasnt ran since may, and put it through the Etec oil fogging process.

That's what I did, any thoughts on why it turns dark brown/red? Grease breaking down?

I had a blown belt beat that seal up pretty bad the second season I had the sled. I replaced the seal and repacked the bearing with Isoflex then and the grease inside was just white and grey/black, nothing that looked like this.

It's all from heat and sitting

Longer it sits, worse it gets lol

Hot - cold Grease has moisture in it no matter what

I believe that you are 20 thou. That is if you set the gauge at zero....

In a full rotation of the crank, the need goes no lower than zero, and no higher than the picture you see there.
