Any 3rd party manufacturers plan to make a low boost elevation compensating turbo that copies the air box design, fueling and clutching simplicity that ski-doo released? I'd be in the market to add one to my existing 850 sled.

A 2019 sp is say 13,000+ tax $4,000 for a turbo =$17,000 plus tax since it is only running 165hp id have no problem putting 2000 kms on and moving it to a new sled every year or 2 compared to $21,500 thats $4,500 saving the first year and $8500 the second. I realize its not apples to apples SP vs Expert but I would change handle bars, riser and possibly shocks anyways. (the savings nearly pays for the new sled in the 3rd year)

I don’t think a 19 sp will be available for the next 3 yrs in your comparison best advice is do what you can afford and enjoy doing it...

The system is quite simple but the workings are complex, The air box design would be the easiest to copy. But the integration of the electronic wastegate, computer and all of the internal sensors would be hardly worth the hassle to convert a non factory turbo machine. Just run a boon docker sidekick. Wont run as good but its the closest option without looking at the factory 850T

Sidekick you would have way more power too.

I’m not super familiar with what added sensors are on the new turbo maxwell. I am just after the reliability, lack of lag and simplicity of low boost. If silber can crack the ecu and an air box clone is not difficult, the clutching should be simple. Have turbo manufactures not had electronic waste gates in the past? Pretty sure some of them adjust for altitude on their own.

The airbox Ski Doo uses is so simple it's stupid, simple solutions can be complex ed to think of. I'm sure the aftermarket turbo guys will adapt this quickly. I would expect Ski Doo copied this idea from somewhere else, maybe not.

Electronic Boost Control(EBC) has been around a number of years. Boondocker uses a pulse width modulated solenoid that is used to operate RAVE Valves on various BRP products.

There is more too that 850T than some know. Snopro had it right its cheaper to buy a new sled if thats the turbo system you really want.

I have no experience with other aftermarket turbo kits other than a boondocker for a 850. That kit with my version of turbo clutching made that sled feel like a 200hp factory bottom end sled.

Might be a stretch for a Revelstoke or Montana chopper company flying to the Hat to check cows. You have a more inventive accountant than me Fred. Lol
