First weekend review in HO Redline kit

After two days riding this last weekend on Dave's new HO redline kit I was decently surprised and happy after day two, first day with excess oil added into fuel and turbo actuator acting up I certainly had some fatigue, riding with the Dave it was adjusted and corrected soon, but day two with good fuel and higher boost it was a different sled altogether

we also swapped out the crapy stock drivers and went with larger 7 tooth extroverts, giving sled a different feel coming out of snow, the looser track tension now than the stock driver trenches we had before.. his kit spools quick and no farts or burps heard either day, fueling was never touched, everything I heard about this is a true pull rope and go from guys that have it, and redline says same performance from farm to 12000feet, easy to see that redline spent some serious time in testing and perfecting this kit, from down pipes, sensor locations to airbox flow characteristics, and over all kit looks dam good

skid will be next as skis four feet off in the steep and deep, but that was a known..

had some good vis last day to do some decent pulls and seen track speeds in low 80smph, it seams to just keep pulling all the way threw, no end in site and likes rpm

still some gain I think in a better primary tuning, maybe a tra race clutch, some guys using even the Polaris, much lighter than the heavy pdrive, and cooler belt temps.. and for helix pushing up to 44 degrees at 8 lbs on tall gearing

Not new to the race fuel idea, but lots of extra work with that, see a swap soon to AV gas, even if a little Perfomance is lost, just a simpler easier handling fuel for me

this kit is not cheap $$ but we also compared to a good running brp stock turbo out with us and it's not in the same league of sled, and it's over 21k as well.. get what you pay for

Dave's service is one reason I wanted his kit, always been great to deal with and rides every weekend, testing and perfecting, and if somethings not right it will be

only a few hrs away and answers his phone!!


not like the Sibler I had on before this, service rules Justin!!

Good to hear.. The HO kit it 7lbs or? Fuel can be a pain, with VP i used to just pour it in and keep the octane high, noticed when i switched to AV if i get the AV to Unleaded mixture to high i'd foul plugs and lately an intake sensor.. Not sure its related but that's what i figured.. I shoot for 60/40 premium to AV.
I found the munster lockout with Elka rear coil over helped out quite a bit, made it so i could adjust it and notice a big difference.. Fairly cost effective.

Like you mention - Dave is out on the weekends in the same areas we are, his kit gets better every couple of weeks...

Ok, I was planning to just run 100 percent Av Iike i do on the impulse kit, and change boost when ever up to 10 lbs, but if there is sensor problems I will try it with pump gas blend..

As for skid I always had bakers in the past and have had good luck, but think I might try Dave's skid out on this one, sure love the lock out idea for the steep and a quick adjust for the trail out.. not that cheap thou..lol

With the lower boost sidekick we have been good with 25% av gas but perhaps we should increase for safety?
We were worried about to much av and fouling plugs and sensors also

was just wondering what boost u were running at the time u did a comparison to the stock 850 turbo. I would presume u must have been running 8+ lbs to run the 7t drivers.
I wouldn't expect the 850 stock turbo to b in the same class when it comes to power. How was the bottom end comparison.(throttle response)?

Heading to sicamous in a couple days. Should b able to throw a leg over the shock turbo. Do a little comparison to my silber @ 5lbs.

That was first day and we were at 6 lbs, not really fair with a 175 over the 165 in the deep, then more power as well added

Stocker is three lbs and felt like my 880 on nitrous making the 97km/hr track speeds.. runs clean. And boost quick.. be a fun sled forsure, but to me should be a 175 and a better skid added

The Sibler was stronger but not by much, did 99- 100km hr on 175 and that was 6-7 lbs

Yea the AV gas is hard on sensors and plugs. At least with a turbo its easy to change 850 plugs.. I was able to cross reference the BOSCH intake sensor, back to a Duramax or a Fiat..ha.. Ordered from Chevy for $30.

What gear ratio you running? I just changed mine last night to 2.31 from 2.12 and I'll give that a whirl later today..

My gears are stupid high... 2.11 I remember right, but did a marker mark on primary and was surprised to see it was 2/3 cleaned off..

And belt temps with new belt HO doo belt not to bad on a decent pull either..

Have over 3000miles on impulse running big boost and Av gas from day one, mixed a little pump at 10k feet but majority has been 100 percent av and other than the normal
O2 sensors that fail( mostly from snow cooling sensor on a roll over, been flawless

Fred-Did you have any kind of a starting problem once the underhood temp was warmed up? I installed a used Redline HO kit on my 19. I had problems with it wanting to start once it was warmed up good, it was especially difficult to start if it sat for more than a few minutes. First start of the day was always on the first pull and it even starts well for the first 20 minutes of the ride. I did talk to Dave about my issue. He had me relocate the intake temp sensor closer to the intake vents. Sounds like this is done on all the kits he installs but it was not mentioned in my initial instructions.

I will say this, Dave has the fueling dialed in on these kits. Mine ran incredible. I relocated the temp sensor, installed a boost tee and added more weight to my clutch arms.....she is ready to rock......next season! I had a weird infection last week which damn near killed me and almost took my finger so I am done riding for the season.

Yes so far it sounds very clean for fueling and little hesitation if any down low

Dropped top gear a Tooth from last ride since larger drivers were installed and hope for even more responsive ness, (21/53),

Fredw-Im going to keep following this. I’d like to do a Diamond S hood too so Id like to see what you come up with for a cold air intake. Also when you remove the factory airbox where do you move the temp sensor to? I thought I was told that sensor does both intake temp and barometric pressure so it might not be a good idea to relocate it to the intake tube since at certain times that intake has to be under vacuum as the turbo is sucking in air. Not sure which turbo you have on your kit, my kit was used and a bit older but it has a RPM 2874. It was fun to ride at 5 lbs but I was really looking to turn it up to 8-9 lbs. I am running the Sledhead Racing clutch set up. I am also curious about the driver swap. You running the 3” track? Did you have to modify the track for tunnel clearance? Thanks for any info. Its tough sitting on the sidelines for the rest of this season but planning for next year gives me something to look forward too.

First weekend out with line crafts Redline's skid, smooth trail ride and just add lockout plate for the shoots, sled fueling ran very spot on all day with out hickup, ski lift in steep and deep was reasonable, with a few adjustments it will be perfect, very impressed over all with his products and service so far.. enjoying the shoots we could climb in the few moments we had

Gearing is 2.18, belt running a inch from top of primary at 7000’ at 10lbs boost, no issues with the new doo belt so far and primary and second temps less than 50c on a good pull..

Dave set up primary to his own set up with ramps and spring, I run a shockwave helix 4+turns out, little heavier sec spring, rpm Sean’s to be the 8100 when able to check

still want to try out the lighter tra race primary on it, the three lbs should show up quick for quicker harder spool, the impulse kit has a more aggressive pull down low, but seams very close up top, both sleds running similar track speed up top
