I want to touch on mtntk being one of the most reliable turbo kits on the mountain for a second.
So, we all are aware here that mtntk was one of the first companies to come out with ecm based tuning for their turbo kits through a bullydog tuner platform witch was specific to the polaris and polaris only. Im my mind they were the pioneers of ecm tuning for the 2 stroke turbo market, in fact they had theirs before silber did. That is why they ran so darn well. What im confused about now is that mtntk is claiming that their kits are better then the rest because they DONT use ecm tuning but a form of piggy back controller ( not sure yet cause theirs no information available) which it seems we are trying to get away from because we know for a fact the best running turbos are ones with the ecm's programmed. If you look at their axys 850 kit they still program the ecm... but for the skidoo they use a piggy back and claim it to be better because your not modifying the factory control systems. This makes no sense to me what so ever? If in fact they are using a piggy back fuel control system then that would mean that a silber kit would be superior in the run ability department over mtntk solely based on the ecm flash. Im not sure why mtntk doesnt want to pay up to have an engineer hack the ecm for them, if they did they would be the top contending kit. Just my .02$

You have some great points in this post, most of them are the same as I had lol. I dont have all the answers for you yet, but the 850 polaris will not be ECU tuned. I have talked to Shawn and have asked him to chime in on this post so hopefully he will soon.
There is a method to his madness and time will tell when we have a kit to test ourselves, Like any new product it will need to prove itself like all the Polaris kits have in the past. I have had a 7 year relationship with MTNTK and trust there products and the people behind the name.

So mtntk will be adding its extra fuel through the stock secondary injectors only with stock fuelling through direct injection. Wonder if silbers hands being in the ecm controls their extra fuel in both the direct and secondary injectors? With extra fueling through secondary injectors only, oil in the fuel tank would be a must to keep the intake side of the pistons being washed and well lubricated. Also might keep the pistons cool with the extra fuel. See pros and cons of both systems

if the same runability can be achieved with the piggyback programmer i think its a better way to go. your not sending your 1200$ ecm away and having a downed snowmobile while your waiting for the flash.

Also you can have a spare fuel programmer in your back pack...
i remeber in 2011 etec with aerocharger having spare fuel programmer and coil in the back pack.. also good ol' exhaust side side panel heat tape, could tear a piece off and stuff into your muffler exhaust temp sensor connector to cross the wires to get rid of engine light as the turbos like to eat them up haha

It all comes down to warrenty..... the piggy back system can be removed when chit goes south and taken to dealer for expected warrenty.... the ecm written systems are dealer detected and therefore voids warrenty.... writing over stock ecm leaves dectectible scripts so there is no hiding it was done....period

Can’t see why not someone posted 1400$$ for an ECM but that’s cheap to stay under warranty umbrella.....

As far as warranty goes, don’t kid yourselves, even if you carefully put it back to stock with a piggy back controller the dealers can still tell that it was fkd with. There are several sensors that will read out of spec under boost causing alarms to be stored in the ECM so unless you have a BUDS in your garage to clear all of these out of range alarms, warranty is not gonna happen, sorry to burst your bubble but I know first hand how this plays out. Some of you are going, fk this guy, he’s an idiot or, his dealer must be an a-hole, we’ll sorry to say that every piston that needs to be replaced on an 850 requires a full BUDS report to be sent in to BRP, good luck convincing yourselves that you can get warranty, those days are over until there’s an OEM boost option.

Mountainsledmania, are you in Alberta? Dave at redline has BUDS too but all he can do is monitor with it, check codes and reset them, you can’t delete any of the sensor out of range events

Thanks Chris!

Managed to get a reply from them, didn’t answer all my questions, more of a sales reply... interested in hearing more once you get your kits in.... do you know when you might be expecting them?

mtntk reply:

On the new MTNTK Turbo Kit for the Skidoo Gen4 850 does use the stock reeds. This kit comes standard with an innovative Fuel Delivery system based on the proven Dyno Jet Power Commander 5 platform and modified by MTNTK Performance to make tuning your Ski-Doo Gen4 850 more reliable and without the restrictions or complications that re-flashing an expensive ECU carries. Boosting your Ski-Doo Gen4 850 is the ultra-fast spooling, super compact, and lightweight Garrett GT2554R. This water-cooled, ball bearing TurboCharger allows you to run pump gas while adding instantaneous bottom end throttle response without adding unnecessary weight to your sled. Automatic and adjustable boost control comes standard to compensate for altitude without any added electronics. As you gain elevation, your boost automatically adjusts to keep your horsepower the same. To lubricate the TurboCharger we use the factory oil pump, which means no added electric oil pump, no added oil reservoir to fill or check, and no changing the turbo oil when it has deteriorated. To make sure your TurboCharger is getting adequate intake air, we use the stock location to draw the coldest, most fresh air without cutting or drilling holes in your Ski-Doo Gen4 850. For this kit, we incorporated an incredibly quiet, lightweight muffler that exits out the stock location. No Cutting or Drilling. This Kit comes complete with clutching and is extremely easy to install. Compatible with SHOT and electric start. Built to be the lightest, yet most durable, this TurboCharger Kit is unquestionably the most controllable, reliable, lightweight and user friendly kit on the market. All Plug and Play, no tuning required. It can be updated through your home computer. We currently are running the stock gear ratio. Instructions are not available yet but should be soon. We are shipping kits to Canada
