It allows the secondary to move back and forth about an 1/8". It makes clutch alignment less crucial so your clutches and belt run cooler and last longer. It's about a $25 piece of plastic from a guy on here called Duck.

You also need a removable secondary, about $450 for that kit if you ride a XP/XM

No negative effect. It is a MUST do cheap mod for a REV. Also the handle bar relocation is free and makes the REV way better in the mountains.
