Had some codes come up this week, sent them the codes, got told that wiring harnesses are not a wear item and not covered under extended warrenty..

how the hell is that a wear item, wish they would just let us save the five grand they charge for there shlt warrenty off the top and no warrenty offered..

sad but true

I had a very similar situation this spring, got code p1471. Dealer said it was due to a broken wire in the main wiring harness, ski doo wouldn't cover it under the B.E.S.T. warranty.

I 100% agree with you that wiring is not a wear item. There is no way it should fail within the warranty period, and its a joke that BRP won't stand behind it if it does fail. I used to be all about getting sleds with warranty, but I don't see it being worth it anymore.

Skidoo has always left me hanging. I like the G 4 chassis so I still ride one. Also I love Can-Am utv’s and ATVs but I would never buy another one, even if it has warranty it doesn’t have warranty. denied claims are normal. Polaris or arctic cat with a 4-5 year extended covers absolutely everything. My rzr even covered wheel bearings and a arm bushings. The same extended plan is available for arctic cat utv also. For that reason I just bought a brand new wildcat xx. I would’ve preferred a wicked Can-Am turbo....but no warranty. My wildcat XX with an extended warranty and a good dealer like cc cycle barhead. I’m good for 5 yrs

My 14 had that exact same code, turned out to be a bad injector. Every now and then you would start it up and it would be running on one cylinder, shut it off and restart and it would run normal till one day it started going down to one cylinder as soon as the motor got hot. It was 100% covered in my case by motor tech in Golden. Good luck thou, maybe try a different dealer if you have options on your area. Some seem to be much better than others. That's complete crap that they wouldn't thou imho

I'm not a fan of the policy in any way because its being cheap but its in the list of exclusions right in the BEST warranty guide unfortunately. If freds sled is a turbo which I believe it is the last thing he wants to do is have it plugged in because now BRP will kill all of his remaining warranty once they look at the BUD's report. Seen it happen before.

Hasn't it always been a one year full coverage and then it is basically a limited warranty for the remainder (power train only)?

It has evolved over the years. It started out as 4 yrs warranty with a $50 deductible on the last 3 yrs Bert. Then at some period between 2009 when I was writing warranty claims at my store and 2017 when I had just finished chewing out our service manager for not covering a claim for one of my customers at the dealership I was working at it changed to a pretty significant list of exclusions including wiring harness concerns. I had to apologize to my service manager after he photocopied the list for me and threw it on my desk. About the only thing that has stayed the same is the $50 deductible. Its changed a lot but still better than most of the aftermarket warranties out there. After that episode I started photo copying the list of exclusions and giving one to each of my customers at time of delivery of their new sled. Educating the customer at the start solves a lot of problems down the road. In freds case simply plugging into BUD's identifying the problem and a simple repair of the broken wire shouldn't cost much more than what the deductible would be. Be interesting to see what they charged him.

Most are like me and remember the four year bumper to bumper and don't realize the exclusions after year one that have crept in. We don't read the fine print like the young guys. lol

Pat pointed out to me when he got his. The kids love to prove the old man wrong. haha I figure if you have a garage full and some are older sleds budget accordingly for repairs.

Sounds like this is a problem child, dealer filled me in, has two sleds with similar codes now in shop, they can’t find problem and are waiting on smarter guys to troubleshoot.. not wanting a third victim taking space

Posted this on a few Facebook groups and lots of reply’s with others having same
Problems

Some Are Saying the pins in the boost injector plug break and need to be removed and soldered, some others are saying strip back a inch of so wire from plug and the insulation is cracked from pressure tightness

Others are saying they found the ecm cooked and needed replacement..

Mine was intermittent, probably from wire marking contact and then over the day, don’t need that happening on a climb

Sad when your best mechanic happens to be the aftermarket guys again are yourself

Sounds like other dealers are standing behind and getting it under warranty, but could take a month

These Facebook groups seam to be smarter than our dealers, very popular with riders over these forums

I would fill all the connectors with dielectric grease after clean them with an electrical contact cleaner. On another note my broken scratcher was replaced under warranty on last day of the 1 year warranty.

Well I added the die electric grease to the ends, also did a ohms test and either side is the same, .8ohns.. but now getting a p2147 code compared to before.. dealer feels the harness more than anything, sounds like backorder

Dealer says the harness is 300$ and two hr install

Where does one find this exclusions list?

Funny that never gets brought up when a guy buys the extra warranty.

Looking at vehicles, most machinery, it seams a sub standard warrenty, for the price we pay, should be bumper to bumper no deductible, 4 years

Average guy uses sled a few times a month over four months.. mice damage from sitting should be a bigger concern

Went down that process back in 18 when motor went down a month after getting sled and dealer in whitefish would not even look at it.. lots of Yea we will look into that, and calls back from People trying to justify there jobs, not a dam thing came out of it

Sled was down to beginning of February, not worth the Paper it was written on

But you think they be a least informative to guys fixing there own crap under there warranty .. not

Maybe send a letter to your MP then?

Or if you want to complain that is ok too, just get a lot of that these days.

I got a shop vacuum from home depot, burnt out in a week and the ****er's wouldnt take it back.

I wound up throwing it at the guy behind the counter! Lol
