1500km on dealer installed new engine including new head, injectors, etc. Done in March 2020.
No cooling issues with old engine and no issues at all with new engine until now.

Got stuck in the trees in powder. Upon restart, gauge indicated overheat. Tunnel wasn't hot, but sled had been off for 5min. Don't know the temp prior to stuck, but was not beeping overheat.
No obvious causes. Coolant expansion tank was empty. Added roughly 1L of water, idled nose high until thermostat opened. Leaked some coolant out the overflow hose, but expected since I filled the reservoir to the top.
Rode the sled the rest of the day and another day without any issues.

Tore sled apart for maintenance. Expansion tank was empty again and some evidence of coolant on outside of panel near overflow hose.
Cap appears to be good, but I have ordered a new one. I don't have a tester for it, but the spring feels normal
No indication of leaks from any hoses or anywhere under the hood. Clamps are tight.
Tunnel shows expected wear but can't find a leak.
No indication the engine is consuming coolant. No odor from exhaust. Plugs and Y-pipe appear normal.

I'm going to try and rig something up to do a cooling system pressure test tomorrow.

Any ideas?
Cylinder head o-rings leaking combustion gasses and over pressuring system, but not leaking coolant???

Get dealer to do a coolant system pressure test.

Sorry, did you get 7500km on your first motor?

Yes.
The cause of failure was piston skirt failure. Happened 3km from the truck going up the trail.

As Snopro says take to dealer.
You have at least 1 year warranty on new motor????????

Engine replacement was done under warranty. I'm pretty sure any warranty on the new engine expired Nov.30/2020 along with rest of the sled, but I'll look into it.

So, after pressure testing, the cap is leaking very slowly, but the rest of the system seems to be holding. It wasn't as low on coolant as first thought, so I am going to see what happens with the new cap.

So two more days riding, and I continued to lose about 200mL per ride. Rolling the sled made it piss a little out the overflow tube. Zero temperature issues.

Installed the new cap and it appears that was the issue. Two days on new cap and no loss. Holds pressure overnight. Quite surprising as the old cap appears just fine and the leak was pretty miniscule.
I like $25 fixes. The new track I just ordered however isn't....
