T850...165 vs 175?

Going to order a T850 and interested on thoughts on going the 175 route to reduce wheelie tendency and more flotation in fresh? Particularly for those riding the T165 now would you stick with the 165 or prefer a 175, if so why? Thanks!

175, better in every way! Especially with short tunnel but bigger floatation. I have spent way more time on the 167 but the small amount of time I have spent on the 175 it is what i want for deep days, better control and sled skiing

I tell people all the time to just rent a 165 one day and a 175 the next day - then you will know - I did that last season - if I had the $$ - 175 all the way

Yes and 175 is snowcheck only so no chance to ride it before you buy. My choice would be the 175 for me.

175 currently not available to rent in T850
Even if it's last year's model - simply just ride the 65 one day and the 75 the next day on the same snow and you will know right away which 1 is the sled you want

He already has a 175. I think its hard to compare an expert 165 to a regular 175 because of the tunnel and other changes.

They are quite different, but I have a 175 2020 summit x with spindles and ski rubbers, low seat etc and it is where i would go again if only in NA sled. It rips!

If you want to wheelie everywhere and work harder and have a more playful sled get a 165. If you want a more predictable machine with less wheelie action, more flotation, get a 175.

I think that’s the key right there. The 165 is a way more playful sled. The turbo and short tunnel make it respond like a 154. For lots of people it’s an absolute blast, and because it is a 165 you can move your weight forward a bit and it will climb a wall when you need it too. But for climbing ability and planted skis the 175 is going to be the way to go. Your not going to get that same fun factor as the 165 but if that’s not your thing then that’s not even a question

i went with a 165. the 175 seems too much for what i need... Never tried one before, get the 175 then we can go for a ride together and try out both :p i also tried to get a 2.5 but wasn't a option.

If you are that guy that has to out climb your buddy by 10 ft on the steep and deep the 175 is the way to go....boondocking tree riding jumps and drops 165 all the way totally depends on your style of riding or lack of style riding..... ha ha both sleds can be adjusted to keep the front end at a proper level by simply tightening the limiter strap tighter than stock

I own an '18 175 with the spindle update, new seat etc, but have spent most of the year on a demo 165 850T from the good folks at Gateway Sales and Service in Rocky Mountain house. Obviously the n\a to turbo skews me towards the demo but overall I have to say that with the fine tuning this chassis has received with the expert upgrades, there's just no need to bother with a 175 anymore, other than climbing straight up on those epic pow days that a guy only gets once a year, the 165 is better in every way and with the way this new chassis jumps up on the snow, the extra flotation of the 175 becomes irrelevant. Just my $0.02

Thanks Big A! Your experience is what I kind of suspected. I've had a couple of years on my '18 then '19 175's and really liked them... until I got my '20 Expert 165 and really enjoyed the nimbleness of the sled. Just wasn't sure if with the Turbo ability to wheelie the extra track length of the 175 would be an overall benefit. Probably a little bit gun shy after I wheelied my buddy's T850 on a climb after hitting a bump, lost control, and ghosted it down into a tree... took out the hood, headlight, and airbox. He took it way better than I did! I felt like an absolute $hit...

Until you ride it! Not irrelevant at all! Can't compare old to new, the 175 with short tunnel is not just for out climbing someone, much like it was not just that in the past. The 165 Turbo is RAD, the 175 is RADDER!

That's what I was trying to say - just even try the older gen 4 175 in the trees at eagles down by hidden lake - I did - tried them both - I would take the 175 in the trees any day over the 165

Jim, the trend is toward fun, playful sleds so I think the 165 is the ticket. After-all nobody would have been happy with you on Sunday if you blasted up to the ridge and left us at the bottom and unable to follow. That could happen with a turbo 175.
