Hi I've got a 17 gen4 that I want to get the shocks rebuilt and adjusted, I've got a guy that does superb work on Manitoba flatland stuff but isn't sure what to tweak for mountain riding. What sort of adjustments are getting done as far as revalving etc?

Something really simple to do with the rebuild able KYB's is to service with 5wt oil. (stock 2.5wt)
This will help a lot with sidehillling and holding lines. 20% stiffer compression and slower rebound.

And also just to mentionned, it runs real good without sway bar connected after this.

Just a question, how does it handle the big whoops on the well maintained trails out there? Not all the places I ride groom six times a day so bump handling is kinda important.

I believe better.
Les relying on spring tension and more on dampening for compression.
It is not a perfect setup for high speed riding but again this shock isn't perfect ether.
You would have to separate the tune (comp/rebound) with a piston tune instead.
Very positive around here and many of us ride with the shock this way on blown out long trails while getting out of alpine zone.
