Look at the terrain he was riding on, he was probably doing 140kph. Mountain tracks aren't built to go that fast

Never had a problem with the old Camoplast 2.5 or 3 inch 174’s hitting 140 .
Did it lots and never had a one come apart .

How tight should the 3 " track be on the new ones . I have not touched it since new and with 1500 km I would think it would be loose but still seems tight and it takes two hands to turn. My 0ld 174 was loose and easy to turn . Maybe all the belt heat on the 850 is from the track turning so hard.

I was wondering the same.. Looking at the phots its as if the idlers are splitting the track..

I've gone over my track quite a few times and burned all the threads off of it.. I don't know why, doubt it will help, I do it anyway.

Hey Skegpro just wondering what type of mileage you got out of your G4 3” before you started having issues? Also what would you recommend to replace it with, you have obviously done a lot of research.

Not running a g4.
Mileage on the ripped tracks is high variable, from first ride to guys with zero issues.
Guys that need a replacement are having good luck with the composite tracks, and they are much cheaper.
Skidoo has an HD version that was just released in November, haven't heard a review on one yet.

In all fairness, you can't compare the new single ply tracks to the older 2 ply units. We as consumers wanted lighter weight, so something has to give, no different then riding sleds from years past. They'd take a hit better, but were considerably heavier...

I tried the single ply track got about 6 rides on one. Then it let go. cost me a chopper ride. Pretty sure every sled I own will only have a camo x3 on it from that point on.

With all this oem track trouble one could probably sell a new factory track for what a x3 would cost.
