I’ve seen guys heating easy outs with torches to get these things out. Can I just drill them and get them out or what?? And then are the new rivets a pain to put in?? Why not just use bolts and nylon locknuts?

I use a tin roof screw and get it started in a little, the vise grips to gently pull as i heat with a micro torch on the aluminum rivet, takes 30 seconds tops per rivet

Similar. I use an Allen wrench that fits in the end of the rivit. Heat the wrench. Pull the rivit with pliers. 30 seconds.

Ended up just drilling them out then using a small sharp chisel to knock off the heads and the inside of one rivet on the top and bottom mount. Then replaced with stainless bolts, washers, and nylex nuts. Worked really well.

i used a drill and a chisel to get mine out. if the rivet starts to spin, pry it will the chisel. also drill slow because the rivet heats up and will melt plastic.
to get the new rivet in, if your using rivets, i laid my ski sideways, put a piece of wood on one side and hammered from the other. worked quick and easy.

Drill a small hole in the flange of the rivet and into the plastic a bit .
Leave that bit in that hole to stop the rivet from spinning .
Drill out the rivet .
