Just sold my 16 154 T3, favourite sled ever. My previous Xm 154 2.5 couldn't even compare. Looking at getting into a 17 or 18 850.

Have the new 3" tracks been holding up to a bit of trail/prairie riding? It won't see much of it but would like to be able to ride around home a bit without worrying about wrecking a track.

Will I regret moving to a 165? Mostly steep tree riding and some open bowls and stuff, not much climbing. I loved how playful my 154 was, but its hard to find a good used 154 3" and i'm wondering if with the new chassis a 165 will still be able to wheely and slide around a bit, and not feel like a school bus.

Or is a 154 2.5 comparable to a 3" 154 now that you don't get the rest of the T3 benefits?

Also anything to look out for when buying used other than the updates?

Thanks

I got a 17 154x3 and i prefer the 2.5 i ride around sask a bit but i also got a 121 for home. Wife has a 16 154 t3 and has 1000 miles half mountains half prairies and her track is in good shape. 154x3 is a wheelie machine in the hills and unless your in hero snow a 2.5 is more then enough ive always had 146s and this is my first 154 and i dont see myself ever going longer as the playfull factor just doesnt feel there but thats my opinion, i had some issues with my 17 and my buddy cracked his bulkhead on his my issues were oil and belt related. But last season it ran 10x better then its first season. I would stick to a 18 or newer and really look over the bulkhead area as many guys dont even no they have cracked ones and look for grenaded belt dust or chunks to see if u got a belt blower

My son is on a 2015 t3 and he loves it and hes in the trees all day long all he did from factory is tighten the tether up a little but other than that he just rides the ass of it. One of our guys has a 2014 /154 he loves it but he has to ride it to the handle bars to keep up but he doe's real well. I ride a t3 / 174 a little bigger i'm older and a little slower on the throttle than the boys and I had it geared down one tooth to make it a little more nimble in the tree's and it works good for me. I love skidoo but the 850 would make me a little nervice with the wobble primary clutch they and all the problems they have had in the mountains , some the rental shops have been have some problems and I would talk to them first to see what they say, but I have been hearing good things about the polaris axis / I would take a real close look at one and also talk to the sled rental place's in the mountains they put alot of miles on in a season. I still like the etec very reliable but I think the 850 is a better handling sled I haven't driven one yet so i'm not sure but I found sent up is very important.

Will an 850 154 3" wheelie worse than my xm 154 3", or comparable? Not sure if they changed anything in the skid or not. I found my xm 154 3" to be a happy medium

My riding buddy buys a new doo every year and the last 3 tracks have come apart.
