Was thinking next year would be the year I jump to the G4 but after reading all the belt issues and track issues I am second guessing that decision.

Some have had good luck with belts, I think the 2.5 inch tracks have been fine but I was thinking of going 3 inch. I like to motor it on the trails when I have to ride trails. I've never had to worry about a track before though.

How many guys are wishing they had not bothered with the G4 yet?

I have 2600 miles and i’m on my original belt.
When you sell as many G4’s as there is there are going to be more people talking about issues.

When you go to the mountains at the cabin there is like 20 g4, 5 polaris, 7 Cats, 2 yamaha, 5 xm. Of course you will hear of more problems. (example)

I'm assuming 2020 is no change to chassis. If there was I would go for 2019. I have rode the G4s and I like them and I don't like having a first thing anything. Maybe I am wrong but 2020 model year might be the best more reliable G4 to have. My XM was second to last year on that chassis and I haven't had any issues.

2.5 or 3 inch track? I remember when 2 inch was the big track option. I'm 210 pounds 6'2" tall. and thats withough all the gear. I'm thinking 165 x 2.5 inch but my buddy is saying go for the 3 inch track.

Depends on what type of riding you do, I personally would probably go back to a 2.5”, I havnt rode in snow deep enough this year where I needed a 3”.

They promised to fix the non belt issues before they build your 2019.

I’m in the same boat. I had intended to check a ‘19, but there isn’t any real evidence that a new one will be any better than my ‘17. Given the unresolved issues and poor response from brp, im not eager to reward them with more of my money. I’m already what most would consider high mileage, so waiting another year isn’t really going to affect resale anyway.

I suspect we will see some new trinket in ‘20. Following brp’s cycle, it’s possible that will be the last year for the G4.

I was convinced I was going to buy a 17 165” 3” but then I read about the track issues and belts, a 163xm with 198kms for half the price popped up so I picked it up on Sunday. Maybe a 2020 once the bugs are ironed out?
