I have a 2017 summit 850 165 and ride always between 5-7000 ft !
My machine is at Dealer right now trying to figure out why it keeps popping at 7300-8000 rpm!
I’m starting to think the clutching has something to do with it as it will hit the rev limiter too easy as well ! Tried every clicker with no real change! I read some of joes write up on how the clickers don’t really change the rpms on the 850

So curious, which clutch kit should I go with ? Both I think are around 400 bucks !

Joe's kit is 400 and BJ' will be a lot closer to 600 by the time you get it here. They are both good kits with the main difference being how you add weight to them.

I have a roosterbuilt and a buddy has Dynamoe Joe. Mine is a 2017 165 3" and his is a 2018 165 3". Have only been out once so far. His seems to work really well. I havent ridden it, but it seems to pull really good and he said holding rpm perfectly. Mine seemed good all around except I was losing rpm bad on bigger climbs. I also put a GGB can on though so need to try again with the stock can to see if that was the problem. It would sound a bit burbly and pull down to 7200 where it was a complete dog. I dont think I would lose that kind of rpm with the clutching so putting my money on the can.

I think John is a nice guy but havent been impressed with his clutching recommendations in the past. I would go DJ or RB.

After much consideration I’ve ordered DJ kit and awaiting its arrival.

What got me is lower / smoother engagement and better price.

I’m sure both kits will provide better belt grip and lower temps.

BJs kit is a skidoo secondary spring and his custom ramps with adjustable tip weight.

DJs kit is two dalton springs. A helix. Added body weight to your stock ramps and adjustable pivot bolt weights. Definitely more involved with installing it

Best of both worlds would be throwing in BJs ramps in with DJ kit

But I’m not really made of money lol

let me know how the install goes and how the kit works ! Be curious to know , I don’t have any clutch tools for this new clutch but have all the tools for the old TRA! Is the p drive pretty easy to work on I’m debating on buying the clutch tools I need to work on it ?

I bought the tools. I dont think you need them. Just need something to compress the spring and it would be easy enough to rig something up if your handy.

No way you can change that. Even if you’re dating her sister, you always talk about the ‘crazy one’ you rode.

Well dealer called and figured out the problem i was having, my spark plug was cracked, which underload caused my machine to misfire ! So that was the good news which is covered under warranty but the bad news was my driveshaft they found was bent so there goes a thousand bucks to fix that ! NO idea what i hit that would of caused that! G4 becoming a money pit that I might get rid of ! MY XM sure did not have issues!
