G4 Shock upgrade

Hi Guys,

Have a new 165 G4 coming. This is my first Doo and considering doing a shock upgrade to Fox Shocks all around. I have previously rode Polaris's and found the Burandt Edition QS2 and QS3 Fox shocks were a great upgrade to those sleds. I'm a big guy (6'5" and 240lbs) who rides fairly aggressively. Found most stock suspension's don't do a great job of handling my fat ass! Would love to hear from someone who has deleted the spring suspension and tried the Fox system or any other system and what your thoughts were.

Best bang for your buck is going to be revalving the stock shocks. Best overall option from what I can gather are elkas. Raptors being a close second. If you want to get rid of the torsion spring I would go to a baker rear arm. Really helps you control the front of the sled, awesome ride, and Daryl is local (and an awesome guy).

I am 6'5" 290 and I also ride very aggressively, I've tried just about every aftermarket skid and shock available, the k-mod skid is damn good all around, the m10 is great for climbing but garbage everywhere else, the ARC from Skinz and other similar coupling style rear arms are great for what they are but the the best skid, at least for a new G4 is the baker set up with a raptor coil over in the rear, infinite adjustability and as stated earlier, Daryl is local to the Calgary area and his customer service is second to none. no matter what you do with shocks in the stock skid you will not be happy with it. As far as ski shocks go, unless you want to save weight, going to an air shock doesn't make sense. If you ride hard, get the stock KYB's revalved, if you don't ride super hard, you'll be more than happy with the kyb's, if you want to have the best of the best and like to pound huge drops, invest in a set of Elkas or raptors, the G4 chassis will be with us for a while so you can always transfer your shocks to your new sled. I had a set of Raptors all around last year. Previously had floats and Zeros or a number of years before that. Have also owned nearly everything out there at some point and time.

Raptors were a little on the heavy side, but the valving they came with were spot on. Very happy with them. I bought a new rear setup late last spring with the Raptor ACE kit to remove the torsions and start playing with locking out the rear. Have zero miles on it, but the rear arm sure looks purty with the billet work and all.

has anyone had the Enzo shock re valving package and kyb 40 upgrade in the past? How does it perform? Its starting to get up there in price as comparable to a full set of shocks, so is it worth the money at that point? Any other shock re valveing companies out there that will do similar modifications for any cheaper??

id be curious at even simply going to the triple rate spring if anyone has any good feedback on them

I have the enzo suspension on my sled and my neighbor has it on his G4.
What package are you looking at? The full shock replacement or a revalve and spring of the x shocks?

Re valve and spring of the X shocks.

What was the price on that?? I have the freeride rear shock on mine. I personally like the X shocks and enzo gave them the ride I was looking for, especially on a whooped out trail.

MB suspension in Sherwood park is another one I heard of.

Email the guys at Raptor. I was lucky enough to score a set of demo rear shocks for my snowcheck. Raptor serviced them so they are pretty much as good as new. Can't even tell they are used. The rear shocks are the same as the XM so they may have a some more around. The fronts are G4 specific but they gave me a bit of a discount because I bought the full set. They shipped from Canada so didn't have to pay duties only GST. Great guys to deal with. The guys at Elka didn't seem too interested in my business.

How do I get a hold of someone to talk about racers edge baker rear setup - I have issues with track rubbing on hanger brackets and put some washers in there to lock out the t-motion - wondering if i can get something a little nicer than some washers thx
