I've read some of the negative posts and now sitting on the fence of trading my 2016-154-3" XM on the 2018-154-3".

I'd like to hear from owners who have had lots of WOT riding and if they had issues with blown belts. My xm has been worry free. I'd be in the more agreesive rider category, but not crazy.

I really wanted to snowcheck a 2018, but after the 2017 fiasco I am going to wait to see what this fall has to show in regards to BRP's "fixes". Then for 2019 it will be either a Skidoo or Polaris, I'm not brand loyal but it would be nice to stay will a brand of sled I am familiar with.

1500k on ours and took one belt out at 1000km and it was WOT for about 30 seconds. removed all the foam and well see how long this one lasts but i wouldnt hesitate to get one we havent had any other issues other than that belt at 1000k. the fun factor of the 850 far outweighs blowing one belt. I think for 2017 guys that ride glaciers etc they can run wide open throttle for minutes on end and i could see that being problematic. but if your like me just short bursts of wide open throttle through the trees etc and the odd big pull here and there your not going to have an issue. especially with the changes happening for 2018

gen 4 165 3", foam removed only,zero belt issues,only 760km on sled ,had a couple issues but looked after by brp and dealer,quickly and with high standards. i went from a xp to this and override sled but that engine imo is the best stock engine out there. i would not hesitate to buy one

I am confident Doo will get any issues from this year sorted out for 2018. They have a good track record on Year 2 of a new platform. Whatever you decide good luck with your decision!

The problem I'm finding with selling older sleds (and you pretty much gotta sell because most dealers don't want the extra inventory) is that the high mileage ones take a real beating. If you ride the '16 for another year you will be pushing 4000+ km. Not a lot of people are looking for sleds with that many km on them unless they are priced very low. I've been there done that!

As you know, I have been a happy camper on my G4. Good dealers doo make a difference. 2500 km and everything is straight and it is running like a champ. I've mentioned in another thread how one has to get the percentage of WOT and I am not in a position to doo that at this time. My wifes G4, although not as much WOT, has over 1110 km and still the original belt. I have booked an '18 and have no fears nor consternations. It will be good and better than the '17. You got an opportunity for 4 years warranty and a good dealer will look after you. Bite the bullet.

700k with LOTS of WOT and only one belt at 500k, this was from literally 2-3 mins of wide open throttle first tracks in after a big storm a few weeks back. I do however have a new issue, it turns out the summit tunnels may have been lightened up a little too much and I broke mine at the drop bracket. Looking like a like a very costly and possibly non warranty repair job. I would not be afraid of an '18 but if you are an aggressive rider go for the Freestyle simply because of the additional bracing, or at the very least install some aftermarket bracing on the sides of the tunnel.

Actually, it's a stock skid 800 TSS set up for fun. Not a climber, just full on fun times.��

Well, I have over 2400km on mine and only blew one belt at about 650km. I geared down to 19-51 and still on that belt for over 1700km. Sounds like I ride more like Maxwell and Ferniesnow. Lots of tree riding and technical sidehills. This thing cuts lines through the bush like no other machine I have owned. We do get into a few WOT climbs but not a lot. I will say the clutching is not perfect but I am waiting for DJ or someone to come out with a clutch kit that works.

I would not hesitate to buy an 18 at all.

Thanks and I feel priviledged! To be in the same sentence and riding category as Maxwell is an honour, IMHO

Kakwasledder, I know what you mean, but there is no way in hell that I could follow or come close to following Sean in the riding selection areas/lines that he frequents.

Oh I just meant that i am not WOT all the time, just like Maxwell and you said. I am more on/off the throttle.

I guess that means we are not extreme riders. Lol.

2018 is going to be interesting. Lots of 17's left that need updates before I buy one....no matter the discount on the 17's

I have pulled cords on 2 belts both somewhere in the 350km range. Dealer warranties them.

I'm meticulous with cleaning my clutches and looking at and adjusting belt deflection. This is why I think I catch the pulled cords before actually blowing them. That along with I'm barely ever at wide open throttle. I'm a big man and still pull some nice lines thru the trees and hills with out WOT. if you save some throttle you will have it when you need it.
That being said I am going to put my name on a 18. I have 1300km on this now and basically going to pay 3k difference for a 18 with shot and 4 year warrant but going to a 165. I wheely the 154 to much.

I road with a guy this weekend who his 850 was down for repairs so he road his Xm 174 and although it's a beast of a sled he was bagging for his 850 back.
You will love the sled. Go for it.

How would that compare to some of your past sleds? Similar...much worse?
