I jinxed myself good.

3rd time limping out my piece of crap sled.

Multiple engine codes. No power. Almost left her in the bush.

First time I got a whole new engine harness. Second time I got a new fuel pump and plugs. And now again. Wonder what's next

I would think that a good dealer would go to bat, ship that one back to BRP before he loses a client and put you on a new machine!! There appears to be a lot of different issues on a lot of different G4 sleds but somehow you sir managed to get them all.

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
Ya, it's your fault. It's not the sleds fault. Weird thing is, for 30+ years sleds have had oil tanks and the tanks never leaked or had problems. But now Doo has leaking oil caps and its the sled owner fault that they leak. Have some more Doolaide. Better yet, if Doo is so great, fixing a simple thing like an oil leak should be a piece of cake. Doo is the greatest.

Actually Doo oil caps have been leaking for years? Like crashidy said don't over tighten them. The plastic necks deform and then they leak.

Yup they have

And Polaris caps don't breath and cause low or no oil to oil pump

Thanks kanedog with all your constructive comments on the G4. Because of you putting the G4 on center stage for the good or the bad and not ever mentioning any other manufacturer, you've convinced me to snow check a 2018 Summit G4. Thanks dude.

You sir are the definition of a troll, doo oil tanks have leaked oil for as long as oil injection was available. We are all sick and tired of your constant bashing and belittling of the G4 and everyone that owns one. Do you even own a sled? Seriously dude, I wish I was a moderator, I woulda pulled the plug on your BS back in December. I know some guys get off on stirring the pot and think their the super cool guy when everybody gets pissed off but you have made ignorant comments in every G4 thread there is. Not one time have you ever contributed any real information, in a positive or negative fashion. Go pound sand

Had the same issue when the pro came out in 2011, it didn't take to much to distort the filler neck/threads. I made an insert out of aluminum pipe on my metal lathe to press into the inside of the filler neck to keep it round, problem solved. Had to do the same to the 13 and 15 pro also. I see someone is providing this insert now, if you like I will get you a name and contact number?

Thanks Dazzler. We have a guy we use that has built them for us in the past when it was a really big issue. These manufacturers need to strengthen that area of the tank to stop this from happening.

Holy **** you guys. The dude has had nothing but grief and comes here offering a possible solution for the rest of us to investigate and everyone here just flames him. What a ****ing joke. This is why everyone with any sort of technical information posts on snowest because they can't handle the constant bash fest here.

Sidewaysinto3rd, thank you for the post and I hope you've found the culprit here.

Great post, these dootards have proven that they will eat their own young!

Lower Gearing leaving belt to go deeper into the secondary for the same Track Speed

I noticed that you lowered the gearing with a 20t sprocket. Is it possible the track speed has grown too high for the near gearing leaving the belt to run too low into the secondary? Below are a couple of links to better explain what I am referring to. By the way, you have a very good thread and info.

I mark my clutches with a sharpie. I have about 3/4" left on the bottom of the secondary (and top of primary)

I'd take a a pic and show you ... but sled still in the shop awaiting my ECU replacement which is a much bigger job than you'd think. Day 9 ... still waiting. Apparently BUDS can't just do this job on the 850 without special authorization and BUDS2 has bugs and BRP just isn't getting back to my shop on a resolution.

I love it when it's late season, we're getting slammed with amazing pow which could be the last one of the year and I'm sitting around waiting for BRP to email a code to my shop.

BRP IF YOU ARE READING THIS CAN YOU PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CALL MY SHOP AND HELP THEM WITH BUDS2 OR GIVE THEM THE CODE FOR BUDS.. PRETTY PLEASE WITH LOTS AND LOTS OF XPS OIL ON TOP. I'll be generous with the xps oil I've bought a lot of it this year ;)

Definately feel your pain Sideways. This is true. Lots of issues with BUDS 2 and ECU programming. We had the same issues doing one as well. Took 3 hours on the phone with a BRP service guy to walk us through it.

got her back on the snow with the new ECU

even though I rode a full day in "break in" mode, burned all my gas + my jerry it only used half my oil reserve.... on my old ECU i would've been out of oil... got the break in mode turned off today .. hopefully see some major improvements in oil consumption on the next ride

Was Ken able to get your dealer squared away with the programming?

If a moderator can delete this thread that would be great. Don't wanna spread around false info. Thanks.

Drama queen reporting: ignore everything I said in this thread about making my belt last longer. Blew one today with 4 rides on it.

Carry on.

But what was the Maximum Belt Temperature??? Belts are not a warranty item. Whatever problem you need to figure out what it is. Getting the right equipment is less expensive than the price of two belts, so the price cannot be an excuse.
