Did a little self testing on the resistance after using g4 sled with 7 tooth drivers and pulling a good pull, then came back and jumped on buddy’s new 165t g4 and almost went over the bars when coming back down, it felt like I left the brake on.. what a difference

Latter in the day we got to a groomed pac trail pointed down.. had my daughter (15)push the g4 165, then the 7 tooth g4 175, also had my t3 174 with 3” pitch and seven tooth drivers

results were very easily seen where the hardest and almost impossible for her to push the newer g4t, then pushed the g4 with 7 tooth much easier and kept moving it forward, and then the t3-174 where she could almost
run with it, that fast and the easiest by far.. all three sleds were stock chain drive

remember quizzing Kuster on this and he said the resistance was as minimal between drivers, but what we seen is not minor, can this maybe be why the fuel consumption is that much more with g4 over the t3..

anyone else compare this difference in drivers

you can barely spin the track on a trackstand on the new G4S. doesnt seem to effect performance at all but your right, could be better forsure....larger diameter just makes sense. Dont really want them sticking below the chassis either so perhaps a new chassis will address this

Yes it seems to make a decent difference. Alpha's have 7 tooth and a 10" rear wheel and you can very easily spin the track over by hand on a stand.

What's the diameter increase between the 6 and 7 tooth driver? Asking for a friend...

Your getting an additional 3.5 inches of circumference on the out side diameter.. or 16 percent bigger wheel

If doo would just reroute or reconfigure coolant injection location, it would make for such a easy job, now the paddles need a little massaging in middle to miss..

I just did this mod to my 2019 850 with Redline turbo...very similar to Fred’s ride. I concur about the rolling resistance being noticeably less. 6 tooth next to 7 tooth here...

Same thing is happening with the new 3.5 pitch series 8 track from Polaris. It runs so tight it's hard to turn the track by hand. Not an ideal design.

but look how square those aftermarket drivers are. they vibrate like crazy. do you notice a performance increase?>

You can run the track a bit looser so easier on bearings and track, not sure one will notice the 3-4ish hp that is gained.
And yes they do vibrate more.

these new thinned out 1ply design tracks stretch a lot under load, think of an elastic band. That said the weight of a track rotating VS running a track tight is probably offset. Running a track tight is a necessary evil in ultimate performance given the design constraints.

personally it seems bad on your garage floor but once snow is in the mix it provides lubrication. the coefficient of friction basically drop to zero.

Are you doing drop and roll to fit that larger driver in?

Ahh yes. You guys get back to gas drop before out of fuel. We seized one rig just east of turbo. Had to double out. You do your own drop n roll?

Aftermarket drivers same tooth, fully clipped track= alot less rolling resistance over stock.

Id be nervous going bigger diameter on the drivers, unless there was a aftermarket skid plate that would cover them.

Ive seen broken drivers or bent driveshafts on the 6T stockers.
