Over reving on the 850T

Well first off I don't have a house on the hill so Jim's sled is almost miled out and I'm sill on breakin. I honestly haven't had an opportunity to really work it hard in my 2 day trips as snow was not optimum to say the least. From watching Jims vids you guys are in blower pow every trip.

Fair enough. I believe Jim's next ride will be day 29. Lucky that blower snow is only a few km's up and not a 30 km trail ride in or he would need 2 sleds per season.

Its over reving because it has the same clutching as the 850 na sleds . What the **** brp . How can u make such a beautiful sled and than not calibrate the clutches ?

WTF is everyone whining about the doo turbo over revving. Just add some clutch weight like you do to every other sled that needs a little clutching. If it was a Polaris or arctic cat someone would be bragging about how they got a sled with a peppy motor and had to add weight.

I would buy this statement on a NA sled, but a sled built and advertised to maintain HP from 0 to 8000 feet to have the clutch weight as far out as it was is a head scratcher. The aftermarket clutch guys must have paid off the Doo assembly line workers to slip in some lighter weights to bolster their sales! That said I would highly recommend Dynamo Joe’s clutch kit to anyone looking for a change. Couldn’t be happier with change in performance. Whine Over!

Gotta time your trips with snow fall today’s forecasting tools and elevation forecasts are pretty unreal. I realize is may not work with some people’s timing but we literally never have bad snow doing this

Hahaha. And why would one expect any different from all the other sleds they've purchased ?

Doesnt surprise me one bit, been doo's track record for years, there is always gains to be had from stock clutching, my 14 XM needed to be fine tuned as did my sidewinder, I budget it un when I buy.

Same with buying a $50k pickup with garbage lighting, it meets the minimum "specs" but is still chit, I shouldnt have to spend $500 fixing the lights on an $80k msrp truck, but I did it anyways because rely on that truck do get me where I need to go. Sled is the same thing.

Honestly it's kinda like relying on the government to be efficient.... you know uts bot gonna happen, so may as well take care of it yourself.

The difference is BRP didn’t leave any adjustment on the table. Years past you could be 200rpm high and drop to clicker 2 and Cary on with life. This year they have left customers with no solution and no adjustability. Sure it’s a simple fix but the parts to do so should have been included with the snowmobile. Not all of them are doing this but they should all come with both sets of bolts.

There is also nothing wrong with the factory calibration, it works, it gets great belt life.

Mine only over revs at around 5500-6500 ft elevation. Once i get higher up on the mountain then it's bang on. I'm gonna add weight with those bolts, simple fix. When it starts over reving i just have to modulate the throttle a bit and just not pin it everywhere. I'm not sure on the whole gear down thing, wouldn't that slow your track speeds down? This thing is pretty much perfect except for a bit of ever rev.

Why would this be happening if the HP is the same at all elevations below 8000 ft? This can only mean that the mapping is off for this elevation? Maxy I'm sure you have an answer?

I said gear up, not gear down. If you gear down you'll really be over revving! Lol

If you gear up it will load the engine more and you wont have to mess with clutching.

But hey what ever works for you

Does anyone commenting in this thread actually own a 850T... further to that actually provide the post a sensible response. **** your guys just need to get out and ride!

984 Ramps and 2mm bushing setup here. 8000rpm all day. Clutch temps at 45-50c in headlight deep.

Brownstar is 100% correct gear it up one tooth on top gear and you will notice a huge difference in track speed....works for me...
