Went for a relative easy ride today as the the snow conditions here suck. First stop noticed a slight smell of raw fuel. There were three of us and at first we couldn't figure out which sled was making the smell. As the day went on it became apparent it was my sled. I opened the clutch side panel and the foam in there was saturated with fuel. So bad the glue holding the foam to panel was being dissolved.

I really didn't want to put the foam in my tunnel bag so I saturated it with water. Figured full of water is better than doing nothing. Rode straight back to the truck.

Getting it home and pulling the hood off nothing immediately jumped out as being a problem. Everything looked dry as a bone. Except for the area inside and outside of the left shock tower... where the gas tank vent line is.

Turns out the gas tank check valve is bad (sled still early in break-in). That little slit is normally supposed to be closed. Blew it out and played with it a bit thinking it might be contaminated but couldn't get it to close. New one on order.

Interesting that the fuel was able to leak into the engine bay and not just overboard. Quite the fire hazard with all that foam soaked in fuel!

Something to keep in mind if you smell raw fuel.
