Ok peeps I just wanted to give a heads up on my findings yesterday, was putting my new Smith grade bumper on my sled and noticed a melted something in my bellypan. I then noticed that the oil lines are really close to the pipe and will DEFINATELY melt, so I wrapped them with wiring loom and then used aluminum tape over it all which should give protection. I feel that if left as is people are gonna loose a motor or turbo or both and yes I know it is warranty but think of the downtime, ski-doo need to adress this as it will be a problem in my opinion. I will dowload pics when I can figure out how to do it, this forum needs it to be easier for an old guy like me ha ha.

Thanks to my wife and daughter I can now download pics from my phone, there ya go, oil line pics right beside the pipe, it takes about an hour to pull the hood and wrap these lines, time well spent.

That melted piece in your hand is from the y-pipe donut. I dunno why that was on there.
I wrapped my hose with heat tape as well.

Thanks, wasn't sure where that melted piece came from and it did lead me to investigate further, i hope guys read this and do something cuz by the time doo addresses it there will be several failures, also another thing brought to my attention by a buddy is the tension needs to be checked on the chain every 200 kms, if it gets too loose the chain skips and breaks a tooth off the upper sprocket which then can wreck the chain case on the bottom because of the tight clearance down there, just a little maintenance boys to keep us riding!

In 17 I had problems with the chain case,I had marked my adjuster with a paint pen and the bolt was backing out, showed dealer, to fix I drilled a hole where the allen key goes to adjust and put locking pin there. the dealer took pics of mine and I heard of people back then having issues and blowing apart chain cases and no warranty for they said it's owners not doing maintaince. imo mark your adjuster and see if it is backing out when your riding

I find this interesting. On the previous NA machines you had to adjust the tension after the first couple of rides and it would usually be very loose and require a couple of turns. With the new Borg Warner chain and gears i am over 1000km on mine an i cant adjust it at all. Same as the 2020.5 i had. That chain does not seem to stretch at all. Is anyone getting any adjustment out of theirs after breakin?

1/2 turn here. probably could have done 3/4 turn. Oil after 450mi was dirty but that's expected.

If you ever have the misfortune like myself of finding a boulder in the middle of that pow field be sure to inspect these lines! If the impact is hard enough it will push the pipe back into these lines. Fortunately for me I took the hood off to inspect things and happened to have some clear tubing in my bag for an in-field repair.

On another note, I learned that when the machine is started it squirts a shot of oil to the turbo. Starting the machine several times allowed me to refill the oil tube before riding out. In that case it was nice that I could see the oil flowing.

The first photo below shows one of the oil lines looking like it's coming out of the pipe. The second photo is the in-field repair, the tubing I had happened to fit tightly over the factory tubes.

Edit: Great! The pics are upside down.

Wow that is crazy I hope I don't ever hit anything that hard to have that come off and good on you to pull your hood off, I may not have done that but will sure think about it in my future if it happens!

(Refering to the image in the second post) I believe that is the gasket on the ypipe. I had the same gasket which came off just like yours. It does not exist on the parts diagram and no one knows what it is for. It sits behind the donut.
