Hi Joe, im overrevving in clicker #1.
Got a new 21 850 turbo 165, 3 inch. Im 260 with gear.
Its in clicker 1. I pin it and it rips to 8200 then falls back on 8000 all the time.
Dealer wants to put 3 heavier bolts in it for $60 bucks for 3 frikkin bolts, AND I have to go to the dealer with sled, book time yata yata, there's got to be an easier fix than this
.

Pete...
here you go. Get these pDrive spacer weights.
1 ring of 6 pcs of 2mm spacer weights @ 1.2grams each.
Add 1 spacer for every 200 rpms over revving.
IF you're overrevving at 8100 rpms and need 7900, then add 1 spacer on each bolt. The new weight should push engine speed down to 79~7950 rpms.

or

If wanting to try a higher clicker number for quicker response (base on higher clicker number, quickens engine speed from one rpm to a higher rpm) then can add estimated 1 gram per clicker you want to raise.
1 ring of 6 pcs of 2mm spacer weights @ 1.2grams each.
1 ring of 3 pcs of 3mm spacer weights @ 1.8grams each.

Mebbe the moderator can move this to the appropriate 850 factory turbo forum?

Maxwell, Stock 850T capacity meets/exceeds 94~95/100 owners ability. Simply having some setting adjustment is good too.
Getting the spacer weights is cheaper than the time/effort/energy to solve high engine speed at full throttle through the warranty service. Just get the spacer, add it to the bolt....
...have a nice life.

about sums it up eh... :becky:

could you not just switch to the 20.5 clutch arms and get the same effect?

Flyweight grams determines engine speed.
IF need less engine speed, THEN add flyweight grams (add mass)

Going 1.7 grams heavier should lower engine speed.
If you want a variation of adjust-ability like going to a higher clicker and get the objective 7950 rpms, then need more grams (spacer option)
...any means you can get for more tuning freedom.

if you need heavier pivot bolts just go to a bolt store and you can by them for a couple of dollars, you can get them up to 40mm. do not go to the dealer and pay big money for them.

Have to watch what you buy. The head of the bolt can't be bigger than 12.5mm O.D. or it will hit the spider @ idle to engagement speed. Once the sheave starts to move and push on the belt, the head clears.

Its $36 for the bolts from dealer and there weighted and precise. I would sooner have the weights exact and right size heads rather than risk issues. I am installing the longer bolts tomorrow so I can ride this weekend. Once back I will remove the clutch and install DJ's 2700 RPM kit. Looking forward to trying out your kit on my new turbo sled Joey.

Give us the review after you ride it Ron.

This weekend Im only riding with the extra gram on the primary so that should stop it from hitting the rev limiter. But when I get Joey's kit I will report my thoughts as well as I have something to compare it to. Caper installed it on his sled and his take off RPM is 2700, where stock its at 4100, could be interesting.

Open the side panel.
Remove clutch guard
Stand on sled.
Start engine
Slowly rev engine up to you see the slide sheave touch the drive belt. The slide sheave should touch the drive belt at 2700 rpms. The sheave ever so gently pushes on the belt till you see around 3200 and the sled starts to move.
…should be around there, depends on how grippy the skis are engaging the concrete.

All my kits are specifically designed for stock gearing. Objective is to get the biggest bang for the buck with the fewest parts and stay as stock as possible.
I always start out stock and "commission" a kit with bone stock gearing. After I commission a kit then I poke around with more settings, try parts that aren't' original. Then i can tell you what "This does" vs "that does"....what it carries into effect...
Like when we tested the G4 first out, stock gearing. Then after commissioning of the kit, tried every reasonable pDrive cam arm BRP made for 2-strokes and gearing and suspension parts...etc.

Gearing lower or higher is an option based on your specific wants.
I have 2 customers in QC as an example that geared up because they do lake riding to go from snow stash to snow stash and can put on a lot of miles/day.
Go with stock gearing...it runs very good.

so if u use stock gears with your StocK dynamo clutch kit and then change OriginaL parts.., say gearing to 19/53 ...will u ALSO have to change (fine tune ) stocK Dynamo CLutch kiT ParTs s as well ...or does the stocK Dynamo clutch kiT encompass all parameters... thanks....$$$.$$ Does ibackshift offer stage 1 , stage 2, stage 3 Dynamo Joe clutch kits for NON stock ski doo 2010 to 2021 800 850s with variable track lengths and lugs thanks again ... I like your style !!!

Q] if you have an iBackshift clutch kit and change from stock gearing to lower, do you have to fine tune settings as well?
A] You have to go run first with the lower gear and ask the question; did I find a deficiency, yes or no? Dont change settings unless the engine speed(s) tell you to. Whether the engine speed is correct or not or whether the engine speed drifts low or high, have to go test first. All I can do is tell you what lower gearing brings to pass.

Q] Does iBackshift offer "clutch" stage tuning, 1, 2, etc...
A] No. My test guys are competitive and dont want to waste time. Lets do something meaningful. Exhaust many experiments, make mistakes. Learn to optimize situations, gear up or gear down. Conclude saying "very pleased".

My thoughts on clutching stage tuning...
(start sarcasm)
Stage 1 is) Just a little advantageous over stock clutching.
Stage 2 is) Just a little more than a little advantageous over stock clutching?
Stage 3 is) Just "even a wee little more advantageous" than just a little more than Just a little advantageous over stock clutching.
(end sarcasm)

If one is looking for stages, sorry, have to go somewhere else.

If you had my kit and pull up beside me. We could trade both clutches. Put your 2 on my sled, my 2 on your sled, adjust the pivot weight for our weight and go ride.

In the end you are installing the time/effort/energy of my test guys and me. I just put it all together for you. No stages, just optimizing.
