08 xp oil cap leak

I was rideing on saturday up at quarts and noticed my oil container leaking from the cap, does anyone know of a quick fix for this problem instead of getting raped at the dealer?

change your oil cap with your gas cap, i had the same problem, now problem fixed

yah lol that actually works. or there is a alum insert for the tank that makes a better seal. look on dootak

had the same issues on my 08 doubled up the o-ring resolved the problem

i had the same problem with mine. i was screwing the cap down until it was tight, then when i went to take it off it felt cross threaded as there was resistance all the way un screwing it. i started just gently snuging it down and it quit leaking and stays straight on the threads. the insert into the neck of the tank helps correct this also.

swapping the caps deffinetly works. found that out this weekend. the gas cap threads onto the oil cap way better and the same the other way. cheap to.

I too did the oil cap/gas cap swap. My machine stayed on its track for the rest of the day, so I'm not sure how well it works. Will have to try this weekend I guess.
