hello,

i was riding yesterday and had a weird issue with my sled. It starts great and runs great most of the time, however once we were in some deeper snow and hill climbing for 5 minutes, the sled would have full RPM's and then the RPMS would drop right off and the sled would bog down. I have to let the thorttle all the way off and then I can get good revs again and get moving. It seems to get worse once it starts.

Any helpful hints or suggestions would be great.

Thanks!!!

The first think to look at is

---Is there any sort of oily spots around the carbs-if so then the line to the RAVE solenoid fell off(pointed toward the oil tank) If so then cut the hose off thats protruding past the clamp and re-crimp the clamp with side cutters and reinstall hose(hose might of fell down between the carb/oil tank) DONT WORRY about engine leaning out, there aret check valves so It wont suck air into case.

Also check to see if the RAVEs are openeing when need be(7000RPM) and are opening at the same time-just pull off the black caps to get a good look at them(RAVEs should be cleaned once a year)

If thats not it then the spring cup is hanging up probably from sloppy fit on the shaft-Replace the cup AND slide 1/2 bushing at the same time. I also recomend to change the rollers at the same time.

ALSO MAKE SURE not to have the heated carbs on-will run like a bag when hot.

Does it go into reverse ok.....sounds like the submarine I bought last year. Checked everything and it turned out to be a spun crank shaft. Hopefully not the case for you.

I would start with the spring cap as well. I had some weird problems with the relay. It did the same type of stuff. Changed the relay from Napa and changed the spring cap. Problems solved.

Then I would check Raves and do a compression check to make sure.
Compression is not high on 07 as it is. It was down from the factory for some reason.

Check you're compression . That 800 R motor is junk . if the motor is week . don't not rebuild with skidoo pistons .there single ring and expensive . buy the dual ring piston . Bombardier will not have this , you need to buy after market . i bought a kit and gasket kit for 300.00 out of the states , buy now as our dollar is high . And when was the last time you rebuilt your clutch . Keep it clean should have no problems . that's my take .

RU stupid or something? Did you not even read his initial post. He never asked anything about the engine being blown. What you got to trash mine or anyones comments. We all know that there was many problems. I have had my share. But grow up "newbie".

My ran that way one day or close to it and I found that the vac line to the air box on the panel had come off

My sled is doing the same exact thing it's a 2007 800 r with the updated motor I was wondering of you ever found out what the problem was? I know the this post was from a few years ago but hopefully somebody still goes on this one.
