Sorry for the late reply (just changed my studded tires out). This was my first season riding with studded tires and I had a blast! Simply made my own with sheet metal screws, however for next season I may upgrade to some real winter-studded tires. I don't ice race, just off-road MX riding...
Here's an old article I've scanned and saved for years from Dirt Bike magazine. Polardragon800's reply also explained it well, however here's something that you can save & print with a diagram to help you out. Hope this helps.

Have a good ride, wish I could make it have to paint my kids room!
There's also a BUMP (Barry's Ultra Motorsports Park) an off-road riding facility located 45 minutes north of St. Albert in Barrhead County, Alberta. BUMP is a privately-owned, family run business with 4 motocross tracks of varying length and difficulty, and over 40 km of off-road trails. Here's...
Looking to go riding this weekend (June 19-21) for the first time near the Brazeau Dam on the East side of the road and ramdon camp with the family. I've read lots about stolen equipment, break-ins, etc. any recent updates on what the "locals" are up to, and area riding conditions. Plus I just...
