Valemount Conditions and Updates 2019 2020

Clemina access to Hillclimb/Bauers In case some people don't know, there is a much safer way to get to Hillclimb/Bauers that doesn't expose you to the overhead hazard of the "shoulder route" (which looks to have been buried by debris from yesterday's slide). As you get into the 3rd cutblock...

    Crystal ridge snow

No, the groomer hasn't made a run up to Crystal yet. I have a 2-seater 550 Tundra and have made it to the top in previous years without any problems - but I don't know what the sled track is like right now.

    Crystal ridge snow

We were up there on Friday 21st. Sled trail in to the base was in OK shape right from Westridge parking lot, although thin until Cochrane Bridge. Some sledders accessing Westridge were driving to the powerline on the CMH road. CMH road was very icy. Lots of whoops after about 6km. We...

    2018 / 2019 Valemount Conditions and Updates

I'm just a local recreational backcountry skier. In addition to backcountry skiing, there's lots of sled-skiing happening in the area. Crystal Ridge is a sled-skiing area developed and managed by VARDA - six gladed runs of about 2,000 vertical feet and a good access trail.

I just returned from a trip down south, and it appears that a camera is being installed directly across the highway from the Chappell Creek parking lot. There is a solar panel installed on one of the roadside posts that I don't remember noticing before.

    2017 / 2018 Valemount Conditions and Updates

We were up Clemina on Sunday May 6. Parked just past 7km when first hit snow. There is still one shady hill holding quite a bit of snow at around 8km, and gravel came and went until about 11km. If that shady hill melts out this week, I would think you'll be able to drive up to at least 11km...
