Probably a 78. The Exciter engines started with -005101 that year and -024101 in 1979.
Hope that helps.
I am looking for a 76-80 Exciter rear skid if you happen to have one.

You can usually carefully scrape that aluminum out of a non-coated steel bore with a hardwood dowel or a brass knife and then ball/brush hone.
If necc. you can use a little muratic acid to soften up the galled aluminum.(clean with baking soda and water afterwards to neutralize)

The sled you are talking about is not an actual 81. It is a brand-new "re-pop" Al Enno chassis (aka SnoPro Unlimited) complete with all the Wahl Bros goodness
It is actually the black #88 sled in the above photos (in this thread) which is currently and only temporarily residing in SH while we...
This was the only jersey thread I could find but it looks like I might have missed the boat on getting one of these Jerseys?
While on S&M I followed a link that appeared in a pop-up ad for purchasing one of these jerseys a couple weeks back and placed an order
However I've yet to receive ANY...
Hey Thanks Ken!
The F500 finished 2nd in Ironwood last weekend
The F600 was supposed to make it's debut at the TLR Cup Champ event yesterday, but was unfortunately cancelled due to warm weather & rain
So Eagle River will be its fist time in competition but all indications are we'll be right in...

Ok so these obviously are not the orginal GPX Keihin carbs, so WHICH Mikuni are you running and how is it jetted? (pilot, mains, needles) and what slider cutouts are you using??
First things first check your needle & seat (for sealing issues, debris in the valve, loose etc) and adjust your...

Also, do you know anyone with an SST or Astro hood for sale?
Thanks
WOT
Do any of you 440 Exciter/Enticer fan-cooled guys need some pristine 1980 cylinders, heads etc?
If so I have a complete top-end incuding pistons with pins, cages, rings (as well as intake and reed valve assemblies) sitting in a box all in good usable condition and looking for a vintage sled.
$250...
When we were in Beausejour last weekend for the Canadian Championships, there was obviously a lot of discussion about the Curtis Boivin situation which was still very fresh in people's minds, despite being 3 months prior.
There were numerous fund raising initiatives present at the Beasuejour...
Thanks for the "props" Greg, glad to ba able to provide morale support to "new" racers. Some great friendships formed that weekend I think! :D
Already looking forwar dto what you'll build for next season.
Below are a few more pics from BJ
For me it was the first time to witness first hand the...
I think it just might be Breton (forget the name of the lake). We only raced there once if I recall. At first I thought it might be either Swan Hills or Lac La Nonne (Barrhead) due to the way the pits are arranged ont he far side but in the distance I think you can see some buildings (that...
Agreed!
We pwned! The bar owner had to drive us back to the hotel as the cabs (strike that, CAB) had quit running! lol
There were quite a few ex-NWSA racers out to watch in Beausejour actually.
Also seen Len Bratko, Ken & Fred Fagnan, Ken Dohie, even Kevin Weisner!
(you gotta come next year...
He sure is. He (and his son Warren on the #9 '82 Ski-Doo) looked great all weekend but were plagued by a myriad of mechanical issues from belts blowing, to leaky fuel tanks, to failed tail-lamps, and "no-starts" (watching people taking turns trying to get Warren's sled started in the staging...
