im running one of ralphs 860s. They are a good reliable engine however they do NOT build anywhere near the power that they were bragged up to be. If you own one id highly recomend someone else to dyno it. there are people doing an honest true hp port job on them. I will post his name when he is...
ok, here is what i have found to work for me. primary- 200/320 SPRING, 417 RAMPS, around 20.5 ish grams at 2500 ft. so drop 4-5 g for elevation. Secondary i run a 58-38 helix and red/black spring. and dropped a few teeth on the gearing as well. geared for 100mph on the praries and will break...
not a big fan of the shockwave. poor backshift. i found it only worked decent when it was almost turned in all the ways. try some other ones they will probably work alot better. also try a cat green secondary spring.
id be interested in trying his ramps for sure. But i am strongly against the doo secondarys. They have had major problems with them for years now. I could probably get you set up very close if you were willing to dump your secondary and run a team. ive wasted alot of $$$$$$$ over the years on...
not trying to bash but id say talk yo a "reputabale' engine builder about mongoose before you use them. they have a rep of nikisil flaking. ive experienced it twice. most builders us an outfit out of quebec. i forget the name tho. be careful.
hey there blain. i dropped down to a 450 and when i pulled my engine apart the pistons were very black yet. i was gonna try a 430 even. pluss they are way under oiled. im gonna start adding 400ml per tank with the 860.
i will try your way first i think. looks a bit easier to get at things. its gonna be now one of ralphs 860's. looking forward to trying one of his big bores.
18mm wow. doo told me to have 15mm and i figured 16 would be better. im gonna shoot for a 32-1 ratio. lots of scuffing on most doo pistons intake side. more oil is ur friend.
