Powdercoating is not as heavy as people think, basically its a plastic durable coating applied between 1-2 mils thick.Larger section of colors and textures with Powder.I just did a MC frame with less than 1/2 pound of Powder.
Here is the frame and some glossy Black parts.
Yes they have metalflake/pearl in them. The green Fly riser is a 2 coat job--a dormant color that comes alive with a clearcoat that has gold metal flake in it.Both look sweet in the sun,if my sled wasn't blur i'd be using the green ones.
Powdercoat wont chip off--prepping the part is as important as spraying the powder. The part needs to be clean and with an average 2 mm's Powdercoat will not weigh much more than the original piece. Its tough, durable and easily to remove the powder as well.Either way anodizing or Powdercoating it...
Thats better than what we can get in BC,Capri would only cover $20g...and there was a place from Saskatchewan that would cover full price on the sled but big $$.I rolled the dice and went without insurance.
Did some bike parts, sled Risers, clutch cover for a YZ andmore soon after i finish building my big oven.CowboyPowdercoating
