    Swan Hills

I could have seen it being closed heading west out of the Townsite. Although there were lots of tracks heading out of Town into his are. The logging appears to be completed for the season. Certainly with April 15th coming they wont be doing too much more cutting this spring. They did...

    Swan Hills

Sorry - no pics - technical difficulties lie with my iPhone battery! We made it out on Saturday (the 31st) and staged from km28 (weigh scale site west of Town) now lots of cut timber waiting to be hauled out and parked on the road with just 4 other rigs. Lots of room for everyone kids! Rode...

    Tumbler Ridge Conditions 2016/2017

We went up into the valley north of Bertram Peak (coming from the north and east across Onion Lake) and well north of the Wapiti Provincial Park boundary on Sunday. First time into that area and not sure what its called. Great conditions up top - bumper deep dry powder with great drifts (up...

    Husky Premium Marked Fuel Price

The research I've done confirmed that only Shell will absolutely guarentee that no ethanol is used in the refining of its premium fuel. They refine - and distribute - 100% of their stations fuels. Other stations will typically note that their premium fuel "may contain up to X% Ethanol"...

    Swan Hills

We were out to Swan Hills this past weekend (Saturday the 10th). We rode right from Town out W/NW towards Goose Tower. Adequate snow cover - just! Lower snow amounts than most years at this time in the season. Little (no?) base. Club trails have not been groomed yet this year. Seems they may...

    Renshaw Trail Bridge Repairs

Anybody? We can't let this dedicated group down. 14 to 15 bodies is alot and not much chatter going on here. I am hopeful that people will still likely show up at the last minute but - don't want to leave it to that. I don't want to ride 27 kms of washboard (too old for that), or have the...

Some more pics. Had to include my creek shots - I guess. Bogger! If it doesn't get too mild this week - it would still offer a great ride!

    Swan Hills

We rode the Goose Tower areas on Sunday April 21 (even rode right out from the Town). Appeared to be just us. Trails were great and still well groomed. Conditions were awesome. It had evened obviously snowed up to a foot (over the previous 24 hours) - nothing at the Town just more - and more -...

    2011 Pro RMK 800 - SLP Stage 4

Hey guys. Just purchased this used '11 with the full SLP Stage 4 kit installed - and - 1,010 miles. SLP does not "recommend" running this set-up below 5,000 ASL. It has the 12.6 : 1 head and they recommend premium ("again - above" 5,000 feet). I did ride it around here (just west of...

    Typical Whitecourt conditions - March 30 - April 1

Thinking about taking the kids riding over this weekend around Whitecourt, and was just wondering if it's (typically) still a good time to ride? Or, is it too late? I realize it ultimately depends on the weather over the next 3 weeks. Thanks Everyone!

Thinking About Upgrading to Full Size Half Ton...Best Bang for The Buck?

If you're just talking 1/2 tons. Hands down. It's a 2011 F150 with the Ecoboost. 8 cylinders are not the future - they're the past. 10,000+ lbs towing from a 6 cylinder running on regular unleaded gas and delivering 25+ mpg when not towing. First year for the ecoboost in the F150 (but - the...

    2011 april conditons

We're coming out to McBride this Thursday. Just wondering if the weather was cold enough last night - or possibly tonight - to allow the Renshaw trail to be groomed one more time. Rest of the week looks like it will be too warm overnight. We're coming - regardless - just hoping from 1 or 2...

    Frozen Fingers

I met with the burn specialist at the UofA Hospital yesterday. They confirmed that 3 of the 4 fingers were badly frost-bit. Pointer finger isn't too bad. But -they confirmed that the fingers should heal - on their own - without any surgical "stuff" over the next 4-6 weeks.:) As "Longhorn"...

    Frozen Fingers

I am not sure about the Swiss - think I'd rather stay with 1 of our main sled producers. Problems being: - the Polaris "left hand" would likely be the most bitching bionic hand on the market - and they'd never get it working properly! - the Skidoo "left hand" would maybe be the best bionic...

    Frozen Fingers

No worries! Humour is appreciated. The only "must have" I have on my agenda is that the left hand "must be able" to operate a snowmobile's brake lever. Though I like the screwdriver idea! Interchangeable bits!
