The trail system at Cataract is very well marked with signs at every intersection. If you go down, it is pretty hard to get lost!

I realize it's marked really well...just wanted the trails in my GPS...

I would be interested in a GPS map of all the trails in Cataract as well. I am going to check with the Calgary Snowmobile Club members at our next club meeting on Jan 15, 2013.

Take Hwy 40 west from Longview untill you hit a closed gate across the hwy. turn left (hwy 940) and go south again untill you hit anotherr gate, you will be at Cataract. It's mostly trail riding and some cut blocks if it ever gets enought snow.

If you are driving all the way from Sask., and are looking for mountain riding, I would reccomend to keep going further west or south.

I echo the other comments - Catarack Creek Snowmobile Area is mainly a trail riding area off the mountains/deep powder. If you are coming from Moose Jaw, you would do well to go to the Crowsnest Pass Area of Alberta, or Golden, B.C., to access true mountain powder sledding. If you want to ride trails right beside the Great Divide, which has a couple of stunning views, there is plenty of trails there, but not groomed at this time. Some trails can be whoopty-doo'ed pretty good (ascents and decents), most are in okay shape though.

A few years ago, we toured the trails in the Etherington/Cataract area.

Attached are the Garmin GPS tracks from a couple of those trips. I don’t know the names of the trails but I way pointed the trail junction signs along the way... just numbering them. We didn’t cover all the trails but got a number of them.

I use Mapsource to view and edit all my GPS activities.

Hope this helps the effort.
