A few of us Manitobans want to head out to western alberta/eastern BC just after new years. We're looking for a good and fairly safe place to ride, jump and explore ourselves. We got a couple shorttracks with 1 3/4" tracks. any and all help is appreciated.

quite a few fun trails in the cataract area, but if you are looking to be close to action, you are better off to keep driving to BC. if it was me, i wouldn't drive that far just to ride at cataract!!

a lot of areas groom the the main trails in BC (fernie, elkford, golden), so the short tracks wouldn't have an issue getting into them.

Go to Golden. Quartz creek is everything you will need. From trees and hills and flat stuff to play in with a warm cabin to stop for lunch and lots of people that will show you the area if you can keep up to us. we get a little wild out in the wilderness sometimes. I have had a few newbies out and they loved the day when they were done. the newer you are the more stuck you seem to be
Good luck and have fun when you go out

Flatlanders looking for a guide or lead in the Fernie area for Jan. 6-9th. Thinking of staging in Coal Creek or Morrissey, does anyone have any tips about the Fernie, BC area. Where to stage where to ride for a nice safe and all types of riding experience. I've snowboarded Fernie many times, just think it's finally time to drag the sleds out and see some of this backcountry. We've checked out the trail maps and looks like the "Rolling Hills" off Paige's Drive is a valid day trip??? Also, thinking about hitting up the "Wrangler's Cabin". This seems like it's only accessable from the Morrissey staging area by Fernie Wilderness Adventures.

Any information or volunteers that want some cash on the side to show us around get a hold of me. Sounds like the trials are rough but getting some attention soon with new snow and groomer back in working condition after maintenance. Thanks in advance.
