Was out today to a few spots, rode snow in the morn, and mud and dirt on the way back...
Drone? Uve never seen the new ultra long reach telescopic selfie sticks???
According to Canada's awesome new drone laws, flying a drone is basically illegal... it's impossible to be 75m from an animal or an "etc" (what even is an etc???)... this is Canada! Land of the free no more:(:(
(Good news everyone! lol, they removed the etc... from the tc.gc.ca website, the ppl in charge of laws here in Canada don't even know how to write them... what a joke our lib gov is)

flying a drone would be completely irresponsible

Please sign this petition to help fix this outrageously restrictive, impossible to follow law so we can share the beauty of Canada's amazing spaces, whilst still being responsible and law abiding...

There are some deep spots to be found (1.75m probed), but good luck getting to them... I'd say today was the last day of the season unless we get another dump...

Yes, the snow is still on the western most trails - Oyster Excursion, Fallers, and western most parts of Cataract Creek and Etherington - but it is not good getting to or returning from them. Other areas of AB are shutdown already - or never opened this winter, on mid-to-norther trail systems.

Basically how it works is....if your there to respectfully to ride the land and enjoy nature, they lock the gates and you smash your machine off rocks and dirt hopefully make it to snow, but if your there to smash the forest down (loggers)the gates swing right open and you get rock star road right up the hill.....

Whoa. WTH is this about???

In time over the next years we would like to see a staging area deeper into the area for easier access to the long term snow levels but we are a long ways from that. Yes there is a clay base road there but we don't have gate access. Sorry but snow access on snowmobiles only

Just sick of governments double standards and being less "free" every year, one of my favourite riding areas Rocky Mountain house has been completely clear cutted from one end to the other in last 2 years and we get the blame, I speak the truth, and it hurts.

I am not sure where you get this idea of being "free", as there are laws and regulations on all public lands. We are a group that works within the laws for all to enjoy both AEP lands, and Public Lands. There are a minority of users who do not know the laws and regulations, and the worst of the lot are those that do nothing to educate themselves. The current government is going to do what they are going to do, and we can protest. The previous governments had a long time to do something, and did nothing. But there is a lot of keyboard jockeys who complain and do nothing. These are the type of people who's words mean nothing to me.

We are all seeing the changes coming form our favorite NDP government. We get stepped on by a big boot and the industry gets to do what they want. Couple of things. the logging companies were given the rights to the Forest management areas years ago. With the approval of the government they can and will harvest those logs. We all want large wooden homes and wood comes from the forest that we all love. Not much we can do but try to work with the companies when we know they are around. It sucks but that's the way it works. They win we lose riding areas from logging and land use issues. Next time you hear of public meeting on access and industry use get out and get involved

Fair enough, but I'm not one of these people you describe, if it was directed to me.

Anyone interested in going out tomorrow? Thinking south out of cataract and then cut blocks. Should have snow down low now. Nakiska is reporting 54 cm in last 24 hrs. lost creek says 22mm for the 24 of april. todays isn't updated yet.

Looking to play not to just blast 80 miles of trail.

Didn't make it out. No riding partner :-(

I guess everyone likes to ride in 2 inchs of no base snow at the beginning of season and not towards the end when we get the big dumps.
Or everyone is back to work and im the only one waiting on nice weather to start working.

This is the time of year government locks the gate. Seeing as they never opened them wonder if they will remember to lock them. May 1st should be locked up as per government regulations.

lets hope for a controlled melt. Lots of snow back there again. Pray for a safe spring.
